Try this:

1) Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing. Ensure there are no error lights or messages appearing in the LCD.

NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.

2) Load letter size paper.

3) Click on START.

For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. RIGHT-CLICK your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then RIGHT-CLICK the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL,HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

4) Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.

5) Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

6) When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.

7) If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.

8) If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).

9) Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.

I replaced the blue ink cartridge and now all colors look blue.

You say all colours look blue? If this is true, does black look blue? If so then black is not printing at all so blue takes over. Did this machine print colours ok before you changed cyan? I would suspect that you are using compatable ink cartridges and they are suspect. check that all the cartridges are in the correct positions. Then run the cleaning cycle and see what happens. If the problem still persists then I would change the print head. The print head part number is QY6-0073-000.
Good luck

I changed all Print cartridges-Black, Yellow,Cyan,Blue

On this machine you have to install inks with power on and use the ink button and choose replace ink. If you just plug them in it won't register and reset the counts. You may need to run clean cycles at least twice to get proper colors.

IP5000 3ebk problems

Hi,

I had a similar problem. Pages in blue, but nozzle check in black. Tried what you tried. Changed the ink ($). Still no change. Then tried the maintenance option to clean the bottom plate. And now it is working. Go figure.

I have a epson stylus printer C65 series. I ran out of black ink so i changed the ink cartridge and it will only print colour not black now.

I have an Epson stylus 6000 series, second hand but was working just fine. I changed the ink cartridges and now the color won't print. Utilities shows all cartridges full, but only black and pale green-blue print. While it was printing color it was drinking the ink, but that's another story.

Printer won't print in black

This could be to several reasons:
1#  The black cart contains blue ink-> Change to a brand new cart.

2# The cart assy has a bottom that is a foil. Sometimes this foil leaks.
Ink will mingle: You need a new cart assy.

Run the cleaning cycle twice after inserting a brand new bk ink cart and print out a test print. If you still see blue instead of bk the assy is leaking.
BTW the bk is darker than blue (or better cyan). You must see bk! So it seems to be the prob with the right ink....
