Check the Image Server Memory or the Image Processor PCB. The recommended Image Sever Memory should be Kingston 32MB, 144 pin EDO Module, 64 Bit, 60 nanoseconds, No Parity

Xerox 3635 mfp. Stuck on software upgrade screen. How can I reset without operator panel?

You can try to download the firmware from Xerox and rewrite through Centerware. Open up internet explorer and type in the ip address of the unit. If that doesn't work you'll need to replace the User Interface Board, the software is corrupt. The part number is 140N63294. Can be purchased at:

On switching on the machine reads "ROS Motor failure"

Seems like there are a lot of issues with this machine based on:
http://www.fixya.com/support/p2824428-xerox_workcentre_5765_5775_5790_fuser_mo
There appear to be several "experts" that may be able to help. I would look for other support, for example owner's manual and factory level troubleshooting support.
From the sound of it, there may be some kind of "jam" that is stalling the drive motor. Hopefully, you can find something that is causing the "stall" and then a way to "reset" the drive motor overheat protection that may be similar to larger motors with the red reset button.

Xerox Phaser 8200 goes through post then hangs.

Sounds like a RAM problem. Go to the back of the machine, You will see  2 large, thumb Screws, Twist them about half a turn and remove the main board. Remove and reinsert the memory stick. If that does not fix it the main board or the electronics module has probably failed.

any 9 code is xerographic. This machine isn't worth fixing if you want me to be truthful. The parts alone will cost you more than enough. Look for DC12 on ebay or something to upgrade.
Sorry, but its the best solution
