Samsung un32eh5000fxza LCD television has gone into a terminal loop turning itself on and off. Sound like a bad power supply?

I decided to adjust the picture settings on the TV. Opened the menu and toggled from Movie to Standard. Went to the manual settings and decided to find out what Backlight did. Began adjusting down on the bar graph, and the TV went into a loop of turning itself off, then on, then immediately off again, making that increasingly annoying chime. Tried disconnecting the power, no change. Looked for an access panel with a main power board plug to temporarily disconnect, and found none. This model does not seem to be part of the bad capacitor group. The guy selling power supply boards and main boards seems to think it is one of the two. Looking for a hint as to how to determine which.

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Replacing the capacitors would be a good start. Replace all the ones with the same capacitance and voltage rating even if they do not look bulge.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

SOURCE: Ilo TV main board

there are a couple of things you can try out

  • replace the amall EEPROM. typically it has the part number format 24Cxx and is very cheep.
  • if that doesn't help, then check the price of the main logic IC on the board. if the price of the IC is comparable with the price of a new board, you may decide whether to put a new board or not,
but i think it's always better to fix the existing board rather than putting a cheap crappy chinese board. those chinese boards are unsafe and prone to failure.. and the picture quality is usually bad.

Problems can often occur with even relatively new Samsung LCD, LED Television. Some customers report their screen going black shortly after turning on the television, and flickering picture even though the TV's speakers continue to produce sound. You can test and rule out a number of things before concluding that your TV has a hardware defect.
First, check the input settings of your television. Often, users will experience a dark screen when first turning on their television if the selected input corresponds with a turned-off or unplugged input, such as a gaming system or DVD player. If the problem persists, try reconnecting all cables on the back or sides of the television. It's possible that one of your cables has gone dead. If you have access to other cables, try swapping these in and see if the problem persists. Some customers report that turning the television off and unplugging it for an extended period of time, up to 24 hours, can fix the black-screen issue. Samsung TV - Power Supply Issues If you've tried all of these suggestions and problems persist, it's possible that the power supply inside the television is defective or broken. The power supply for most Samsung LCD, LED televisions will cost around $150, with labor costs of around $250. Unless you have a fair amount of TV repair expertise, this is probably not the sort of repair you'd attempt yourself.

Samsung hcm4216W turned off by itself loops.

Instead of typing model number of your TV (that located on right hand side and on the back of TV) you published here part number of your TV's remote control. LOL.
Anyway... If it is LCD/plasma panel that you talking about - than power supply have bad electrolytic capacitors that have to be replaced. You can recognize 'em by bulged/swollen tops (instead of flat tops of good capacitors).
This repair required soldering skills.

Samsung LCD from standby to on, and off again.. keeps repeating.

The cap's will look puffed. there are usually several on the power supply that are bad. Yes they have to be soldered in and they have polarity so you have to get them in right.

Power won't come on- constant clicking loop instead

My T.V. did the same thing and it was due to bad capacitors on the power supply board. the tops of the capacitors were bulged, once replaced it worked fine. It involves sodering in new capacitors total cost $30. that includes buying the sodering tool. Keep looking around on line someone had pictures step by step how to do it.
