SOURCE: line not assigned

Somewhere, floating around, is a TDA Users manual. Program 19 and 20 deal with Idle line preference out and in. You could have a couple of things going on, one is that you lost your ILP, or the line assigned to it is no longer there. If it's the former, try this:

PROG 19 0 is no line 1 is Idle CO 2 + a button is that line, and 3 is intercom. Press STORE after the sequence and try it.
Worst case is you do 19 3 and get it to the intercom on idle.

For incoming PROG 20 0 is none, 1 is longest ringing, and 2 plus a line is to prefer that line, used when you have a private or semi-private line that you need to answer. Again, press STORE to save your selection.

SOURCE: LINE NOT ASSIGNED

Since, by default, you have either 4 or 8 lines minimum, do they appear on other phones and is there anything on the buttons? Press PROG and line 3 button. If the display shows CO 003, you have another problem. If they show blank, dial 0 3 and press ENTER. Do the same for line 4 (using 4, of course).

SOURCE: We have a Norstar M7310

Although I can't walk you through it step by step here, basically heres what you need to do. (if you're somewhat familiar with system programming you might be able to do this)

Put the original phone back.
Login to your system programming and turn the SET RELOCATION feature to NO.
Then swap the phone with the new one.

Does the two-line display say "Line in use" when you try select the line, or is the indicator next to the line button lit (so to speak), or both? First, try Feature * 0 then press each line key to see if they really are assigned to lines 2 and 3... they could be other functions or multiple appearances of another line.

How do I reprogram the phone to ring when a new call comes in, default to a certain line, and show caller id when a call comes in.

The answer to the Caller ID question:
Depend on the type of system that the phone is connected to. Late model Partner ACS equipment will display Caller ID info between the first and second rings, provided that the telephone line is plugged into a module that supports Caller ID.

The answers for the other 2 questions are taken directly out of the Partner ACS Programming Guide which is available for free download at Avaya's website.

Ther answer to the incoming call line ringing question:
Again, depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEATURE 00 at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing.

The green lights next to the line or pool buttons show the current Line Ringing settings for all

lines or pools assigned to the extension. (If a line or pool is not assigned to a button, the green

light next to that button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light

next to the line or pool button:

? Immediate Ring - on steady

? Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
? No Ring - flutters quickly

3) Press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the
currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
4) Continue programming, or exit programming mode.

Line selection:

For incoming calls, the line selection (hunt sequence) is set by the local service provider). For outgoing calls....again....it depends on the system. For the Partner ACS:

1) Press FEAURE 00, SYSTEM PROG, SYSTEM PROG, CENTRAL PROG at extension 10 or 11.
2) Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Automatic Line Selection.
3) Press **.
4) Press the line, pool, or INTERCOM buttons in the desired order. The valid entries for Automatic
Line Selection
depend upon the type of extension:

? Key Extension: Outside system lines, Left Intercom (the factory setting)

? Pooled Extension: Pool 880 button 1, button 2, Left Intercom, Right Intercom (the factory

setting), Pools 881-883, individual lines

For each button pressed, a display similar to the following appears:

Automatic Line Selection

5) To exit Automatic Line Selection, press **.
6) Press CENTRAL PROG and enter a new extension number, or exit programming mode.

Changing line ringing and line selection are tasks that are normally reserved for the Administrator of the telephone system.

I want all incoming calls to come through my extension only.

What it sounds like you want to do is restrict the automatic system answering to certain extensions. This is done via feature code 204.

To identify the lines on which outside calls should be answered by the system:
  1. Press feature +(00)+(system program)+(system program)+#204
  2. Enter the two-digit system line number of the desired line.
  3. To assign or unassign the line, press (Next Data) until the appropriate value appears.
    1 = Assigned
2 = Not Assigned (the factory setting)
  4. To identify another line, press (next item)or (prev. item) until the line number appears on the display. Then repeat Step 3.
  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for all the lines that you want to identify.
  6. Select another procedure, or exit programming mode.

Re Phone Problem

Hi Hearher,
Usually a private line rings in as a target line to a specific port and is assigned as Ring and Appear on that port. Do you have regular CO lines or a T-1 ? You might also check the programming you have in place and verify the line is set to " ring and Appear ' on the phone. If you have a T-1 you also have to make sure the " Received " digits are programmed. I'll be out most of today but will check back this afternoon and see if you have responded. Good Luck, ....Mike

Not working

Astonishingly, assignment of announcement to phone line is not documented in the user manual. Tech support was totally worthless concerning this issue. I had to discover it by trial and error. To assign an announcement to a specific phone line do the following:
1) Record your announcement message for a, b, c, ao, etc. as documented
2) Press program
3) Keep pressing the feature button until ANNC appear at the bottom of screen, line 1 appears at the top, and the letter 'a' appears in the middle.
4) Choose the announcement to be assigned to Line 1 by pressing the select button
5) Press the feature button again. Line 2 appears in the display.
6) Repeat step 4 to select the announcement to be assigned to Line 2.
7) Press program button, or take phone off-hook to end the sequence.

Shame on AT&T for such shoddy documentation, and lack of support for their products!
