How big around is the exhaust tubing on the back of the unit?

I want to get the right size because a friend used a dryer tubing on the back and I didn't see the hole myself and am sure using the right size will make a difference but I don't want to undo his tape job until I am sure..

Most dryers are 4" tubing. If you can use rigid tubing as it does not collect as much lint as quickly.

SOURCE: engine size

Okay,
I love the 4.3L I have a tricked out 2000 S10 with that motor and its awesome(a few aftermarket bolt ons and those motors really scream!), I have also had an 89 Jimmy and 96 S10 with that motor so your in luck as I I know it inside and out.

The fuel pump is always a pain on trucks becasue you have to remove the tank to gain access. The pump is bolted in on the top side of the tank. I hope it doesn't have a full tank of gas as it needs to be drained(re-use when job is complete). Not to mention pulling a tank that's full of gas very heavy.
See this link for an overview:

http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c1528008f213

Here's how you test the fuel pump relay, and fuel pump:

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the relay.
  3. Locate the two terminals on the relay, which are connected to the coil windings. Check the relay coil for continuity. Connect the common meter lead to terminal 85 and positive meter lead to terminal 86. There should be continuity. If not, replace the relay.
Fuel Pump
  1. Turn the ignition key OFF for ten seconds.
  2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position but do not start the engine.
  3. You should here the fuel pump operate for two seconds (a light electrical humming sound).
  4. Apply a 12 volt fused jumper wire to the fuel pump prime (test) connector. This should be located in the driver's side of the engine compartment. The fuel pump should operate.
  5. If the fuel pump does operate, remove and test the relay. If the relay is defective, replace the relay and repeat the test.
  6. If the relay is operating properly, connect a grounded test light to the fuel pump relay control wire (green with white stripe) at the relay. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. The test light should illuminate for two seconds and go out. If the test light does not illuminate, check the relay control wire for continuity and repair as necessary, then repeat the test.
  7. Connect a grounded test light to the feed wire (orange) at the relay and turn the ignition key ON. The test light should illuminate. If the light does not illuminate, test feed wire for continuity and the fuse in the underhood fuse relay center. Repair as necessary and repeat the test.
  8. If the fuel pump is still not functioning, connect a fused jumper wire between the feed (orange) wire and the fuel pump motor (gray) wire at the relay. The pump should operate.
  9. If the pump does not operate, check the fuel pump motor wire for continuity and repair as necessary.
  10. If the pump will still not operate, replace the pump.
  11. If the pump does operate, start the vehicle and remove the relay. The vehicle should continue to run. If the vehicle stalls, check the fuel pump/oil pressure switch and its wiring. Repair as necessary and repeat the test.
Also see figure 4 which is digram 3 from this link, this is the schematic on the fuel pump, the fuel pump's hot wire is tan with a white stripe, if you can test the voltage of this wire you can confirm it is not an electrical problem.

Also be sure to releive the fuel pressure before servicing

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure.
  3. Connect fuel pressure gauge J-34730-1A or its equivalent to the pressure connection. Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gauge to prevent spillage.
  4. Install the bleed hose into an approved container and open the valve to bleed the system. The system is now safe for servicing.
  5. Drain any fuel remaining in the gauge into an approved container.
Let me know if any of this is jibberish to you and I can clarify further.

Good Luck again, and feel free to ask anymore questions.

SOURCE: Tape Drive Block Size

Bit of an odd one but i agree that block size could cause an issue.

Try this link for the HP tech manual for this drive.

http://www.tag.com/tech%20support/System%20Resources/Drivers%20&%20Utilities/Drivers/Current/7.2/HP%20DAT%20Storage%20Works/guides/unix.pdf

It may help with your issue and does detail block size changes on some systems.

My dryer leaves a weird smell on my clothing anything i dry no matter what setting i use , how big or how small the loads are and it smells.

Try checking the back of the dryer, there should be a foil tube type exhaust. Sometimes if the tube falls off the wall (mine had a plug on wall) the lint backs up and burns or cooks. That's the cause of your smell.

U can also use a vacuum and try to vacuum the lint trap at the front of the dryer. U might have to unscrew the grill.

The bottom line is that there is lint somewhere in ur dryer and that's what is causing ur smell.

I have a KitchenAid clothes dryer and the drying cycle will not cut off automatically, i have to stop the dryer manually. What is the problem?

you have a bad exhaust sensor on the unit, when the clothes are dry and the temperature raises hotter and hotter, the sensor realizes the clothes are dry and breaks the circuit, the sensor is located on the exhaust tube. the exhaust tube is what the hose attaches to to vent the air outside, take the exhaust tube off, then the back of your dryer and look to see where the tube is that vents from the dryer to the back where the attachment was, there should be a sensor there with two wires, you can test it for continuity but it will probably be stuck closed so you will get continuity no mater how hot it gets, just replace it with a new on... its probably 25 bucks

I have an DLG3788 dryer, the heat comes on but only for a few seconds at a time and it continues this process

There are two thermostats in the dryer. They are located on the exhaust tube that houses the burner element and the ignitor. One is on the top half of the exhaust tube near the dryer wall and the other is on the bottom half of the exhaust tube toward the center of the dryer. The one on the bottom half of the exhaust tube in the one with the reset button. Before pushing the reset button disconnect power. The reset switch is between two wire leads that go to the thermostat. If you open up the right side access cover on the dryer, then you can see the exhaust tube. It is about 5 inches in diameter and (looking thrugh the right side access port), it will be sloping up from left to right as it runs from the front of the dryer to the back. You can see another exhaust tube further away from the port and lower down, but the one you are looking for is closest to you and higher up. If you look back toward the front of the machine (left), you can see two wires hanging down from the opposite side of the exhaust tube. The wires run to the thermostat which you can also see on a bracket standing off the exhaust tube. In between the two wire leads that run to the thermostat is the reset button. push it back in then try the dryer it should work now, good luck Tim

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Dryer is not heating up

LG DRYER NOT HEATING ????? ****PLEASE READ THIS LG DRYER UPDATE!!!!! ****
I READ AND FOLLOWED THE SUGGESTIONS ABOVE AND IT WORKED!!!!! AND I SAVED HUNDREDS! LET ME WALK YOU THRU.
(UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD BEFORE FOLLOWING THESE STEPS)
1.ON TOP OF DRYER THERE ARE SCREWS ON BACK, UNSCREWING THESE WILL ALLOW YOU TO PULL TOP OFF (IT SLIDES AWAY FROM DRYER)
2. NOW THAT TOP IS OFF, UNSCREW SCREWS OFF OF TOP FRONT PANEL (SCREWS ARE ON BACK OF FRONT PANEL BUT CAN ONLY BE SCREWED OFF IF TOP IS OFF)
3. NOW OPEN DRYER FRONT DOOR AND UNSCREW 2 SCREWS UNDER LINT CATCHER AREA, SCREWS FACE THE FRONT - NOW THE WHOLE BOTTOM FRONT PANEL WITH DOOR WILL CAN COME OFF TO ACCESS THE BOTTOM OF DRYER
4. ON LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF DRYER THERE'S AN AREA WITH WIRES AND PARTS - LOOK TOWARDS BACK ALONG RIGHT SIDE OF BOTTOM OF DRYER (ABOUT 6 - 7 INCHES TOWARDS BACK)
(FLASHLIGHT MAKES EASY TO SEE)
5.LOCATE THE FLAME TUBE WHICH LOOKS LIKE AN OPEN CYLINDER (THIS IS A FEW INCHES FROM RIGHT SIDE TOWARDS CENTER OF DRYER) - ON THE LEFT BOTTOM SIDE OF THIS FLAME TUBE THERE ARE 2 SETS OF WIRES (1 IN THE INSIDE OF THIS FLAME TUBE AND 1 ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FLAME TUBE) THE 1 SET OF TWO WIRES THATS INSIDE OF FLAME TUBE IS WHERE YOU WILL BE LOCATING A "BUTTON OR PIN SWITCH" - THIS WILL BE RIGHT BETWEEN BOTH WIRES (MINE WAS BLACK COLOR BUTTON ON A METAL PIN).
"PUSH / CLICK" THIS BUTTON BUT MAKE SURE THERE IS NO NOISE AROUND YOU BECAUSE YOU NEED TO HEAR TO MAKE SURE YOU HEAR A "CLICK" SOUND - I MISSED IT BUT ONCE CLICKED IT WONT CLICK AGAIN BUT ITS OK CUZ IT WILL WORK).
6. BEFORE PUTTING EVERTHING BACK TOGETHER I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU VACUUM OUT ALL LINT/ DUST BUNNIES FROM THE INSIDE OF THE AREA YOU WERE JUST IN (AROUND THE FLAME TUBE). i EVEN UNSCREWED THE OUTSIDE OF LINT CATCHER TOOK IT OFF (EASY) AND CLEANED IT. I ALSO VACUUMED THE BACK OF DRYER WHERE EXHAUST COMES OUT AND VACUUMED THE VENT THAT GOES TO WALL AND THE VENT GOING UP TO MY ATTIC AND MADE SURE THE AIR FLOW WAS GOOD THROUGHT THAT WHOLE AREA (SHOP VAC WORKED GOOD CUZ YOU CAN USE IT TO VACUUM BOTH BY SUCKING AND BLOWING AIR INTO THE AREAS WHERE VENTING / EXHAUST OCCUR).
7. PUT ALL PARTS AND SCREWS BACK, PLUG IN AND TURN DRYER ON WITH WET CLOTHES IN IT ...
