Need year and make? Tools(1) A compression gauge (2) a spark gap tester.(3) A Clymer service manual for your engine. (you can purchase from your local dealer). I know all these are expensive but if your going to be a outboard owner you will always need them. Troubleshooting (1) check compression. without the year and make I'm giving you a average numbers. Look at your Clymer manual for specific specs. all cylinders need to be over 100 lbs and equal each other within 5 lbs.(2) check spark. use a spark gap tester all cylinders should jump a half inch gap. if you have good compression and good spark, fuel is the problem nine times out of ten .Ethanol gas is proven to stay stable in fuel systems for only 30 days in 90 + degree heat. Drain gas tank, clean fuel lines replace primer bulb and replace all fuel filters. Yamaha has a gravity filter under engine cowl clean it. Finally replace spark plugs, I know spark plugs probably don't look bad but this is a outboard. Fresh spark plugs means less resistance for the ignition system. The ignition system is week compared to automotive. Test drive boat, if the problem is still there then there is further steps to take. Again I don't know the make so I guessing what fuel injected system. Pull out your clymer manual. what is great about the Clymer Manual for Novice techs is it gives detailed info on your outboard. Troubleshooting tips and teaches you how your outboard works. without the test information I would guess the electric fuel pump. but test everything first because a mercury efi fuel pump will set you back 600.00

Losing power when the lights is on of the motor electric problems

lots of KM there,

that feature is called limphome mode
it is for 3 reasons, to save damage to engine or trans
or to save you driving a sick car. all 3 is truth.
or saves the cat from meltdown.
or damage to transmission using wrong high gear going too slow this would wreck transmission clutch packs
the engine can do the same thing even back to 1988 year first EFI
injections.
Limphome can happen if any MAJOR sensor goes DEAD>
The EFI then uses Virtual created sensor. (software)
but is crude and burns lots of fuel and CAT overheats.
and loss of power.
or is low fuel pressure.

no engine told by you.(nor what fuel it burns)
no DTC errors scanned, did you scan it ?

the owners manual lost, telling what the real name if lamp is.

no dyna model told.
U300 to U400 , 3 tons "?
nor engine there.
diesel engine? LPG or Petrol? engine?
if D4D , fuel filters clean? diesel?

quote 2006
Even though they were built on the U300 and U400 platforms, for marketing purpose these models still used the Dyna 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350 names, indicating payload. The Dyna 100 was available with a 2.5 L (2,494 cc) D-4D common rail turbo diesel engine offering 88 PS (65 kW). The Dyna 150 is a chassis/cab version of the Dyna truck, with twin rear wheels, and an uprated 102 PS (75 kW) engine, shared with the HiLux and HiAce.

CHECK FUSES TO MAKE SURE FUEL PUMP FUSE IS NOT BLOWN. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GETTING GAS FROM THE TANK BY CHECKING THE FUEL LINE AFTER THE FUEL FILTER. SOMETIME THE FUEL FILTER CAN BE CLOGGED UP.

How do i get a 1986 ford f-150 with a efi 302 (5.0) engine and auto trans to restart after running out of fuel?

When you turn on the key, the fuel pump starts and runs for one second. Under normal circumstances this is long enough the bring the fuel pressure in the fuel rails up to spec. But it is not long enough once you run the fuel system dry. The easiest way to remedy this is to turn your key on and off six to eight times with 2~3secs interval. If there is no problem in the system, this will get the fuel pressure up in the rails and the engine will start.

Take the fuel line off the carb take a glass jar qt size make sure you have gloves and goggles on as well as a fire extinguer handy. Have someone turn the engine over while you catch the fuel in the jar, if there is water in the fuel you will see a seperation of gas and water in the jar.

1985 Ford F-150 Truck (EFI) Fuel Problems

Same problem with my 85 F-150 5.0 EFI---turned out that the fuel pump relay under the hood was teriffically corroded on the inside (I opened up the relay to look inside). When I checked the voltage at the fuel pump it would show 3.5-6 volts instead of 12 volts.

I was thinking fuel blockage or perhaps failure of the in-tank pumps. Sometimes the truck would start and run, othertimes it would neither start nor run. Typically, if running it would stay running until turned off (where the relay had to break).

Changing the green fuel pump relay fixed the problem--12 volts now at the pump and no reoccurance.

Good luck--let me know if this fixed your F-150.
