How can someone say it is definitely a control board faulty when they don't even know what sort of machine it is? Fault code 248 is used on the F&P aquasmart top load machines. It is a fault displayed when the water level drops during wash & it has to keep topping up the water level. Before doing any of the following, check that the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the drain pipe. It has to be able to release any suction after draining so it doesn't syphon water out next time it fills.
Here is info on 248 fault code.
248. (11111000) SmartPump Top Up Fault
More than 6 attempts have been made to top-up the water level in the bowl during recirc. This then signifies that the flapper valve has not closed full and some water is diverting to the drain.
Primary Source: Poor Flapper Seal.
Action: 1) Clean any foreign objects out of the pump, concentrating especially on the flapper and drain/recirc port areas.
2) Remove the flapper to ensure no foreign objects exists below and
around the flapper.
3) Check for flapper damage, especially the lip seals. If damaged,
replace.
Secondary Source: Cap not tight, warped, damaged (worn).
Action: 1) Check that the hood/cap on the drain pump are tight. If loose and screws are difficult to tighten, foreign objects could be in screw boss. Remove pump fully and inspect/replace if in doubt.
2) Check the cap is not warped or it is not excessively worn in the
area where it contacts the flapper. Replace the cap if warped or
worn.
Tertiary Source: Damaged Pump Housing Port
Action: Check there is no excessive wear to the pump housing port caused by foreign objects. Replace pump if necessary.
Quaternary Source: Motor Control Module.
Action: Replace Motor Control Module.
If its a top loader then a faulty motor controller.(computer main board )

I BELIEVE THAT IS A ROTOR SENSOR ERROR
REPLACE THE ROTOR SENSOR

Hi there
That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.
first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

I have a Fisher & Paykel GW609AU Smartdrive Excellence 6.5 Washing Machine that would start then stop then start then stop a few more times before eventually beeping.
I fixed it by bypassing(joined the white and yellow wire) the trip out switch which is located under the control module(one screw to remove). Now it Works.

Hi just read your posting. This fault code indicates you have a COLD WATER VALVE FAULT.The lights you marked with --x-- are the ones that are lit.Is this correct? What you need to do is to test the valve coil for OHMS resistance. It should be around 60 to 63 ohms. The water valves are located under the top panel. Please reply to tell me how you got on or if you need further assistance.
