Do you mean the map the weather person stands in front of? Most other maps involve a computer at some point in displaying them. Some showing the cloud formations are time lapse from satellite images. Others that are models of predicted weather patterns are generated on the computer.
The ones the weather person stands in front of and marks up really displayed on a monitor off camera and the weather person if you noticed doesn't even look at the screen behind them, they are looking at a display off camera.
There are many maps shown during a weather broadcast so you have to listen as to what they are showing you. Long range forecast maps for example are future so they are computer models. Satellite images are just that. The state boundaries, cities, are merely superimposed over maps so you have an idea of where you're looking.
