Usually all the digital cameras have a filter to diminishes the quantity of light passed through objective. This filter is enabled by a small relay and that relay is powered by a mobile wire from the mother board. Because this wire are always moved every time when the zoom is used ,this action can cause the interruption of that wire.
The second possibility is that relay to get stuck and can`t be able to switch the filter.

Camera makes overexposed pictures wiht lines can this be a software problem ?

Nope, this is a hardware problem and the camera needs to be worked on. Notice how your display works fine but the finished product exhibits the anomaly. The recording end is messed up.

Make sure the ISO is set to the lowest number or even to "auto ISO". The best way to avoid these lighting problems is to adjust your aperture settings, your shutter speed and your film speed when shooting. Additional details about thus sibject could find in the Samsung_S500_Owners_Manual in section about Settings & Mode.

Its possible that you are interesnting to check other
information, so visit this two sites Fix-Overexposed and this other take-better-photos-in-5-easy-steps.

Finally, remote but possible, could be t
he symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter, this are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Hope helps.

The camera will not expose pictures properly; they are underexposed inside, or overexposed outside. The exposure adjustment feature is set in the middle or neutral mode. Changing the iso does not help. ...

It sounds like the light meter in the camera itself is probably broken and needs to be taken to a repair shop. Try using it in manual mode until you can get it fixed.

Overexposed photos

Alter the ISO rating to 100
Also go to menu and make sure you have the white balance set to auto or outside rather than night or whatever it is set at.

Washed out pictures

Set our exposure compensation to - 2 or more.

If you don't know how to do or set the above, then try the following:
If images are overexposed by one stop: set ASA/ISO to one number higher (if using100, set to 200).
By two stops (100 to 400)
By three stops (100 to 800)

You can still set camera in auto modes(P,A, S).
Just make sure to set back your ASA when shooting indoor.

Hope they are helpful.

Over exsposed pictures from my pentax me Super

Hi Pete,

Say you're using ASA/ISO 100 film:
Photos come out overexposed and you were shooting in A or S or P modes.
Just set your ASA/ISO to 200: this will gives one stop less and images will be correct.

Flash blows out the image!!!

hi ,

it could be possible that the light sensor (the device under the red transparent plastic) in front of the flash is already failing. to test, set the camera mode to auto then cover the sensor with your hand and do some test shots, the images should be overexposed if the sensor is covered, then shoot some photos without covering the sensor, the images should be properly exposed , otherwise it might already be a light sensor failure .
