I have a new computer with Vista as the operating system. It does not accept or recognize the USB drivers software that I have for the modem. It is dated July 2004 and works on Windows XP. Is there new software that I need to downlaod or what? I would have to downlaod it on another computer and save onto a disk, I guess. Please let me know what I need to do.

Hi!
i have the same has anyone tried this solution? does it really work?pls let me know.thanks... seko
Open the following link --
speedstream 5200
Download the manual from the link and review page 7 for ethernet connection.
Notice particularly the back of the device. There are four connection points to plug things in the one on the left with DSL is where cable with the phone connectors connects the phone jack to the speedstream 5200. On the right the round connector with the pin is where the power goes. Next to the power connector to the left is a USB connector. In between usb connector and the DSL port is an ethernet connector. One way to avoid the need for the USB software os to use the ethernet connector bu connecting an ethenet cable (wider connector that fits snugly in both ports one on the Speadstream 5200 and the other probably present on your computer.
USB driver including VISTA (if you prefer)
USB driver link
These seem to work
good luck
Try this -- the links only seem to work for the browser I am using -- maybe a cookie issue.
http://kb.efficient.com
Click on 5100/5200/5400/5500 Router in the left column
click on this in the center for the manual
5xxx Router User
Guide
then try this for the usb driver
http://kb.efficient.com/utility/getfile....
I hope this is better -- sorry for the problems --I have not encountered a website that caused these issues providing links
Cut and paste the links into the browser or type them select the blue text links from the pabes.
alternate means to vista driver
http://kb.efficient.com
Click Vista Drivers in left column
click USB Driver in center
click drv_4.9.0.135.exe on resulting page
Yes you should download the sofftware to another machine and transfer it on an appropriate device such as a USB memory stick. A second alternative would be to use the ethernet connection to download the USB file directly to the machine in question, if it works in your configuration.
