28112 series dect 6.0 cordless

Like others have mentioned on theirs, my display is also fading...most characters are missing. This makes it impossible to do further button programming of the phone.

I bought new batteries for both handsets; but a fresh battery did not help the situation.

Is this faulty circuitry? What can be done to solve this ongoing issue?

I patiently await your intelligent response!

Thanks for taking your time taman1!

I tryed what you suggested on both phones and it had no effect on the display. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated?

I have seen this problem on other equipment with LCD screens. The connection between the LDC screen and the circuit board is an elastomeric connector. To see if this might be the problem, squeeze the phone along each edge of the LCD screen (front to back) and see if you can get the display to come back or get any better. If so, the contacting area on the circuit board needs cleaning.

Tesco ARC200 Cordless DECT Phone

[ARC20x User Guide p20: 11 Handset Registration]
To register a new handset:
  1. Press and hold the HANDSET LOCATOR on the base unit until you hear Registration tone (repeated 'beeps')
  2. On the handset, press the PROG then the UP or DOWN button to display "REGISTER"
  3. Press the PHONE/OK
-> The display shows "BS 1234". If any of these numbers is steady (not flashing), then the handset is already registered to that base unit.
  4. Press 1 to select base unit number 1
    -> The display shows "BASE PIN _ _ _ _"
  5. Key in the system PIN (default 0000) and press the PHONE/OK
-> The display shows "WAIT _ _ _ _" for a few moments, while the handset searches for a base. Then it shows a list of handset numbers which are still free on the base unit.
(For example, "1 34 6" indicates that numbers 1, 3, 4 and 6 are free; 2 and 5 are already assigned to other handsets.)
  6. Key in a free handset number
-> After a moment, the display should show the handset's name and number.
If registration fails...
  • Try again, making sure you begin step 2 as soon ans Registration tone starts.

Searching....

The problem of searching.....

After trying all the technician's suggestions had failed; I disconnected the base to return it to the store for replacement. Then I decided to try disconnecting and reconnecting power and phone line, placed handset back on base and the phone reset itself and is working fine...

Recap:

Disconnect power and phone line from base for about 30 seconds and reconnect both power and phone line to base and place handset back on base; it should reset...

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

Registration

I'm not sure from your description exactly what your problem is, but I have the 28112, and it has a handset menu command for registration, and one for deregistration. If this sounds similar to yours, I'd suggest trying the registration command. If that fails, try deregistering, and then try to register again. I've also heard that these units somehow reset after 20 seconds in the recharge cradle, but I haven't seen that actually appear to work.

If you have problems getting the menu command to work, write back with more info and I'll see if I can figure it out based on what my phone does.

Inaudible announcement

How close were you to the base unit when you recorded the message? The manual suggests 9 inches from your mouth to the mic on the unit. Also speak loudly when you make the recording. Yes, you can re-record the message. In fact, you can record two messages and use whichever one fits your immediate circumstances.
