Can I can food in the Cooks Pressure Cooker?
If this is a type that is electric rather than stove-top, it's not designed to can food, so I would not use it for that purpose. And, when I looked it up in a web search, it appears that is what this is. I'm sorry, you would need an actual stove-top pressure canner/cooker for canning, such as what Presto, Granite Ware, Mirro, All American, and similar brands manufacture.
Personally, I have had and used a Presto, a Mirro, and even an old Magic Seal, and all 3 have worked very well for canning. I would suggest looking on Craigslist, eBay, or even Freecycle for one, or stop by your local flea markets or thrift stores. Just be sure the weight is with it, and check the condition of the seal (although those are very easy to replace).
I love canning the tasty stuff from my garden, and have even canned the chicken & other farm animal meats raised here, too. Pressure cooking is the only safe way to can so many low-acid foods, so it's an essential tool in our kitchen!
Good luck!
