I have replaced the drum, Toner, Toner rack, Transfer Roller, Fusing unit, and cleaned the optics and any clear plastic. Granted none of these parts were brand new, but they were all from a known good unit that has a network problem. If I select to print darker, it does print the faded area darker. It is about an inch wide faded area. Happens with any paper tray and both scanning areas.
Kenneth:
I would remove and cover the drum carriage (to protect the drum from damage by exposure to light), and check and clean the corona wires. There is a charge corona and a transfer corona, so that's two coronas that you'll have to clean. If you can remove the coronas from the machine, you can do a better job of cleaning the coronas. A faded line down the page like you're getting could be a paper shard stuck to one of the coronas... it's been known to happen.
Testimonial: "I am failing to find any documentation on Corona wire for a Savin 917. I did stop the copier mid copy and noticed that the left side of the image transfer roller was visibly lighter than the rest of the roller. I cleaned it and it printed a bit better, but still visibly faded."

Have you tried contacting Okidata, 2000 Bishops Gate Blvd.,Mount Laurel, N.J. 08054-4620 Phone 1-800-OKI-DATA(654-3282) or visit www.okidata.com I have a similar problem with my OKIPAGE 10e. 1 inch wide black line, 2 inches from right hand side of page from top to bottom of 8 1/2 x 11 pages. I also cleaned black dust off green roller. Problem continues. Conclusion: I'm not an expert, but I think your wiping, checking, and cleaning, is a waste of time. I think your problem, and mine, is probably not a hardware problem, although I removed my black toner cartridge out of curiosity and perhaps re-installed it incorrectly. My guess is it's some sort of electronic problem, such as programming error, or software problem.

hmmm...sounds like your toner cartridge is truly unhappy. I'd return it if I were you.
no worries..start by getting new driver for that here
SOURCE: Faded print on left hand side of paper
This type of printing defect is normally caused by 1 of a few problems - the easier one first:
1. Toner cartridges sometimes do not have the toner evenly distributed - close the toner cartridge and inspect the hopper right below it for even distribution of toner.
The harder ones:
2. This type of defect can also be caused by dirty charging section - for the drum to pick up the toner it must be charged electrically prior to exposure - if the charge grid is not clean then it will not give the drum an even charge - not sure were this is in this printer yet - looks like it comes as part of the drum kit so this should not be causing this issue.
3. The last and most difficult to check is paper alignment with the drum - is the paper contacting the drum evenly - look for possible problems in the paper path with the drum unit removed - look for something uneven around the area were the paper contacts the drum

It may be the fuser. Take it out and inspect the roller on it:
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

SOURCE: dirty, smuggy, pages
This is the test to determine toner or fuser issue.
Print a test page
When you hear the paper feed into the machine open the top to stop the machine
Remove the toner cart.
You should be able to see the page with printing on it. (This is before the page hits the fuser)
If you can see the smudge or marks on the page the problem is most likely the cartridge but NOT the fuser.
If the page is clean the problem is most likely the fuser.
To confirm run another test page and open the lid as soon as you see the page start to exit the machine.
Remove the toner and pull the page out from inside the machine.
If the marks are on the fused portion of the page but not the unfused portion the problem is the fuser.
Fuser is readily available.
Hope this helps
