You can make a Department or what is call now PLU as a non tax department. depending on the register, some you can program to print the name of the church when you depress the department key and it would also give you the non tax department on your totals, at the end of the day.

I just bought XE-A402 cash register how do i set just one depart ment as no tax, for labor

You need to check the tables in the department programming section of the book. There will be a setting for tax or non tax for each tax number. So if you need to turn off tax 1, set tax 1 to non tax. See how you get on.
If you need a manual, C-tech have one here:http://the-checkout-tech.com/manuals/cashregisters/Sharp_XE-A402_operation_manual.html

Flexion1: Cash Register Casio TE-2400

You need to check that your PLU button really is a PLU button for a start. In REG mode, press 1 then the PLU button. It should register the product that is also on your first item button. If you press 2 then PLU, it should register the second product on your keyboard. If it doesn't then the PLU button has been moved from the original location. I can give you the code to replace it.
To set the NO SALE button back to location, Turn key to Program mode, 4 SUBTOTAL 41 Now press the NO SALE button on your keyboard. SUBTOTAL Now turn the key back to REG and try the NO SALE button. If it still does nothing then you probably have special programming to disallow the NO SALE command. Let me know.
There is a setting for VAT breakdown printing in the table under the heading 'TRANSACTION KEY PROGRAM' Find this in your manual and under it you will see a table with the heading <CASH>,<CHARGE>,<CHECK>. Near the bottom of the table is the breakdown setting. I assume you are familiar with this programming as you said you had tried other VAT settings. If you just want this setting turned on, use 100000 when programming. Otherwise, you will need to create a number depending upon what features you want to enable for each payment button.

Casio TE-2400 Cash Register- Keyboard Orientation

Hi. The previous owner just had PLUs linked to the depts that suited them. to link PLUs to depts,
Turn key to Program mode.
3 SUBTOTAL
1166 SUBTOTAL
Now type the PLU number you want to link. E.g if you want to link PLU 6, then press 6 on the number pad (don't press the actual PLU, just type its number on the number pad)
Now press the button marked PLU. It should be near the other function buttons.
Now type the department number to link to. Use two digits. E.g to link to dept 5, type 05 on the number pad.
Press CASH
Press SUBTOTAL
As for NO SALE button, does it actually show the command NO SALE, or NS on the display when you press it? It may have been removed from the keyboard. Does the drawer open when you finish a sale normally?
There is normally a setting in key features for VAT breakdown on the CASH button. Make sure this is set so that it prints the breakdown. Add on means you sell at a tax exclusive price and the tax is added on to that by the register. Add in means you sell at a tax inclusive price and want the register to show how much of it was tax.
Hope this helps. See how you get on.
