I would look at some third party applications that clear up the memory while you are on the PDA / JAM. You can also go into the settings function, memory and view running programs.
One of the earlier version flaws of Windows 2003 is that it does not offer a shut down menu on the Today Screen. There are quite a few freeware applications that allow you to shut down running programs. I tend to run one or two programs - maximum at a time. This is not a laptop. I find my touch screen unresponsive if too much memory is in use. It's not really the touch screen but that the computer can't follow my commands, almost like an old 283 or 386 computer.
Take a look for these tool bar/memory manager programs before sending out to service in Mumbai.

My phone shuts off despite an adequate charge on the battery > 50% or greater than 75%. On my Jam, I cleaned the screen, recalibrated the touch screen AND found out, buried under transcription preferences/stylus preferences, that my screen was set for landscape not for 8 1/2 by 11 upright.
This presented many problems. If one changes the screen orientation, on the today screen, it does not necessarily set back or affect other temporary setting changes one has made. I like using the wordpro with screen in landscape as I'm reading more right to left. Once I changed the orientation with regard to input, many problems went away, unfortunately, the battery issue or shutting off when I'm on the phone, still happens dailyt.
PDA never shuts off or cuts out ...just phone with a total unit shut down.
