I bought a hook2 4x and I keep getting a simulation mode like it is showing me what it can do the screens keep showing depths of 5-20 ft how can I get screen to show just depth and fish locator-thk

Are you looking for the little fish symbols?
Press MENU, down arrow to SONAR FEATURES and press ENT. Arrow to FISH SYMBOLS and press ENT. Press EXIT twice. Any significant return in the water will now show up as a fish symbol.

Are you looking for the fish arches?
You won't get any arches unless the boat is moving and of course there are fish passing within the transducers signal. The shallower the water, the less area you are covering and less likely to get a fish return.

Hi,

First check the Battery status of your Fish finder, replace the battery. Check the transducer and suction-cap. Master reset after replacing of battery may need for your fish finder. It can solve your problem.

SOURCE: When we are deep water

Im not familiar with your particular unit but you should be using a low frequency transducer for water over 500'; something like a 50 kHz transducer or a dual frequency transducer like a 50/200kHz for detail with the high freq. but increased depth range on the lower frequency. As far as setting it to 250 ft, you should be able to use the range feature and adjust the maximum to 250'. typically the factory default is automatic so it will caonstantly adjust the range based on the maximum current depth.

Check to make sure the transducer is hooked up correctly, and check the actual transducer for signs of damage. Transducers are fragile, and a good whack can break the crystal inside. For more troubleshooting, here is a helpful link with the Owners Manual for your Humminbird.
