Alright well every time I enter a game I get a really terrible lag spike every 60 seconds or so. It really doesn't matter which game I play either. How do I fix this?

My best guess is either a poor network connection causing high latency, or simply poor optimization on the part of the game's creators.

Not really much you can do about the second one, but you can check your network. Reboot your router, make sure nothing else is eating all your bandwidth, etc.

Ram Upgrade!! That is were to start. Also make sure you have some hard drive space and open up paging. Paging uses some of your empty hard drive space as Ram. I don't know what OS you have you can go to your system settings in the control panel. go to advanced tab and in the virtual memory you can adjust you allotted paging space. You might want to also consider lo lowering graphic details in the games you are playing.

If XP it for sure is INFECTED, as ALL are now. XP is dead now.

are you running the original HP software?
that means not upgraded to w10.
nor using MS disks to install OS , only HP works right or f11 key

10. my guess is it lags from even just sounds. (even music online or off line, not just Video lag, as all on line videos can do.
11. even my netflix lags on my TV with 200mbs/ fiber. (and has nothing to do with my systems, its the internet or netflix caused.

The DPC spikes, my guess are software overload.

it had and old Pentium 4.
ATI Mobility Radeon X600 with 256MB dedicated
are you on wifi or fast broad band, with ethernet direct connect./.
but this pc has no gigalan jack, oops, that be bad.
running XP are you>?

first try this on this old dog pc

in the start box. type, msconfig.
then see startup tab
then shut them all off for a test.
see if runs ok now.
why not show one example in detail that fails
show slow video link online. a youtube.
or better , name a game that runs slow or lags

3: online, games.

is give it to GOODWILL (tm) then walk over to the newer Laptops
and get one with w7 or newer

This is not a problem with your equipment it is a server issue with the NHL or EA servers, it also depends on the hosting gamer an where they are when you enter into a game online.

Try hosting a game yourself and see what the connection is like then, if your connection is good then the host of the games you play is the problem, but if you have connection problems when you host a game then EA servers are the problem....You may need to wait a month or so till they upgrade they server capacity to take the loads.

when you play the game turn your graphics down and it will play better like 1260x800 turn it down to 400x 600

maximum cord length is 90 feet otherwise there is a resisitance factor that will lose its signal as you described

Call your ISP and have them do a line test.

from your PC, go to www.speedtest.net and perform a speed and latency test.

Give this info to your ISP.

i think getting 2gb of ram will make your computer go much faster and wont lag but if u do that ur computer might be to fast for ur graphics so it will look choppy so u might need both.

Well, sounds like what you need is QoS (Quality of Service) on your router. It is a system that some routers have that will prioritize some traffic over others.
I have looked over the manual for your router and it does not seem to have that feature. The built in QoS of windows apparently does not work to well either.
Sorry, but it looks like you might have to try to get another router.

Next time the game is loading, try clearing out the cache. You can do this by holding down the A button while the game loads. When you see the Oblivion title screen come up, your cache should be cleared. This may clear up your issue. If that doesn't do it for you, you can try to clear the cache out another way. There are many websites that can assist you with that. When in google, search for: Clear XBOX 360 cache. Hope this helps you.
