Not true, Dyson DC25 All floors has an orange ball. The sales man doesn't know what he's talking about. What it sounds like you need is a new filter. DC24 filter is different. Keep in mind that the DC25 is one of the most problematic machines in the Dyson line up and most of them don't last more than a couple of years. Before you throw money at it, take it to your local vac repair shop to get a proper diagnosis from a professional.

I have a DC-07 Animal and I have taken it apart many a time and cleaned at least the plastic parts. Its all modular. I would just make sure nothing is clogged.. Remember the Hepa filter is not washable just the sponge filter. So if you took out the filter and left in the Helpa filter I would order a new Hepa filter - its probably clogged by now! It sounds like it could need replaced or there is something stopped up in it somewhere . Clean all the crevices in it dirt could possibly be congested in it . If it still does it after you clean it out change the filter .

You are hearing the air whistling past the gasket. Touching it may make it come and go. It is a small air leak bypassing the filter. It is more of a nuisance than anything. A bit of fine dust may be getting past the filter too so It's best to try to adjust it so it does not make the noise. If your filter was still wet or is clogged it will cause a restriction which makes it more likely for the air to try to get past the filter because it is having a hard time going through the filter.
