Hi Roger, your Akai PDP4290 TV, is a Monitor, does not bring antenna or cable input
To be able to use it as a Channel Television, you must use a Decoder of some Television service and connect it to one of the inputs that your Akai has
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

SOURCE: how do you connect AKAI

You will need a cable box/set-top box with this TV. Contact your cable TV provider for this.
It does not have a direct RF connection, only AV connections.
For Cable TV support you can use

  • Composite video (single RCA connector)
  • SVideo (round 4 pin connector)
  • Component Connectors (3 RCA connecters red/green/blu)

Component will give you the highest quality signal (as long has the cable box supports this connection) You will also need to connect the Audio connectors (red/white RCA) from the cable box to the TV as well.

The full PDF manual for your TV can be found here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0502572.pdf

I hope this helps,
Magoo

How to hook up my HDMI it don't have one to watch TVhow to hook up HDMI Akai plasma display model pdp4290

You'll need a HDMI to composite converter. You'll have to connect this to your Component 2 inputs as it's rated at 480p/720p/1080i.
(component 1 is only rated 480i/480p)
You may also need to connect the speakers with a separate RCA jack connectors.

I need to know what input & output connections are available on the Akai PDP4290 Plasma TV?

This was the cheapest Akai in its day. No Tuner, No Speakers, must use a surround sound or regular stereo amp for sound.
It also has the standard A/V input also.
Best to use a HD Box and RGB cables for best picture.

AKAI PLASMA TV. MOEL AKI PDP4273M

Does it perhaps say no HDMI...instead of HTMI?

If so it means that it is not detecting anything from the HDMI input. Make sure that you have the cables properly connected and that you are on the correct TV input.
If thats not the case, try using component cables instead of HDMI and see if it works that way.
