Are you sure it has a centrifugal switch?
Capacitor start/ capacitor run have been the standard for a good number of years.

SOURCE: powerflo matrix pump is humming not pumping

I think you have a start/run capacitor issue or your impeller has spun its center out. Check the impeller first. If the impeller is intact, take your motor to your full service pool professional for repair.

SOURCE: I have a Powerflo Matrix

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Not a manual one. If it overheats it will shut down to cool but once it cools enough it will turn back on. Is the unit still hot? If not you'll need to inspect the motor for damage. It may be a small part such as the capacitor or the starting switch, but could also be more severe such as the winding itself. You will also want to examine the shaft where it passes thru the pump and motor and look for signs of rust from a pump seal leak.

If you are not familiar with testing these parts your best bet would be a local electric motor repair shop to see if the motor can be repaired or if it would need to be replaced. They should also be able to ensure there is no pump damage.

SOURCE: do hayward powerflo lx motors

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

No, your model number starts with 's' which means it is a split phase design; no capacitors are present in a split phase motor. If the motor is failing to start and just hums the only part that you can replace that MAY be the problem is the internal starting switch. If the switch is not the issue it is the winding itself and not worth fixing.

SOURCE: I have a hayward powerflo matrix (1 hp) pump and

magic lube and new o-ring. now put just a small amount on the o-ring and a little on the treads of the lid, do not over tighten ! that's the trick, the lube makes the lid over tighten,so just hand tight, take a marker and mark the lid so you know the perfect spot ever time you put it back on where to stop

I have a perflex hayward ec40 and i just bought a powerflo lx ,but the the pump out and filter in do not match up if i run a hose between the two will this work well

First off the power flo lx by hayward must be rotated to the side to connect with the filter body, to do this you must take the long bolts from the top out rotate to the side reassemble it then purchase a hayward union part # SP1480BLK this will connect the pump housing to your filter tank. I hope this info has helped. Pool girl357

Hayward flo pump motor repair

What exactly is wrong with your pool pump? If it won't start at all, check for improper or loose connections, blown fuses or tripped breakers, and open your switches and replays. Manually check the rotation of your motor shaft. Make sure that there is free movement and no obstructions. If the motor hums, but won't start, check for obstructions and check the Centrifugal switch to see if it is stuck in the open position. If you have low flow, check pool pumps for clogged or restricted strainer/suction line and discharge line of filter. You could also have an air leak in suction (bubbles issuing from return fittings). Low voltage could cause loss of suction. Check for plugged or restricted impeller.

It is likely a motor failure. You may be able to take it to a local electric motor repair shop but most of those motors are not economical to repair. You can replace the motor and pump seal for far less than the whole pump. If you would like a quote on the parts, try us at www.arrowpools.net

Water keeps coming out from under the lid of the pump

Replace the O-ring/re-lube it, if that doesn't work the actually strainer assembly may be warped, those come undone with the clip under the basket and just pop off - they are between $80-$100.
