Picture is rolling

In the old days there was a control at the back of every tv labelled "vertical hold" that needed adjustment when the picture rolled. As tv sets became better that control was at first moved inside the cabinet and then finally deleted.

The vertical hold controlled the amount of synchronising signal (that is extracted from the signal received from the antenna) reached the frame oscillator. Today's electronics are so stable the vertical and horizontal synchronisation is automatic so while sometimes a rolling picture can be caused by a bad signal it almost invariably caused by an internal electronic fault needing the attention of an engineer.

I have a Philips TV model: 27pt9015d. at the top of the screen several horizontal lines have appeared. it looks like the top inch is being cut off and then flipped back. that is - when credits are...

sounds like the vertical adjustment has spanned beyond the screen, causing it to jump up and then upside down. after the cover is removed look for vertical adjustment and with a non-conductive screwdriver, adjust it a little bit either way to see if it fixes it, if it doesn't fix it, then look again for the right one.

I have about an inch to inch and half of light colored and looks to be horizontal line at the top of the screen on every channel. Haven't tried anything to fix at this point.

Hi there ! If you know technically try this :
1. try to adjust manually the trimmer at the vertical and horizontal section of your tv (located inside)
2, check for possible cold solder and try to fix it by using soldering Iron and soldering pump.
3.there maybe a change value of resistor inside the horizontal Section.
4. An open and leaky capacitor might also be the cause of Horizontal line at the top of your tv screen . thank you.

Continuous vertical roll on tv

Wow 5 months without a solution. NOT GOOD.. Well I hope I can help...
This sounds like a vertical hold problem, and is normally easy to fix.... There should be a couple of nob's on the lower back of the TV. One for vertical and one for Horizontal hold. You need to find the vertical hold nob and adjust it, until the rolling stops and stabilizes. If however these nob's are not visible you will have to take TV to an engineer to fix it.
Hope this helps..

This TV needs a service adjustment done. Looks like a vertical or horizontal IC is failing. I'd go ahead, and shut off until services adjustment is made. Have you unplugged for a few minutes and plugged back in? However, I'd have a service tech look at it.

Tv roll

Are you sure the roll isnt Vertical? as if it is then all you need to do is adjust the VERTICAL HOLD PRESET POT which should be located on the PCB somewhere, its very unusual for TV.S to roll horizontally as then the picture just goes out of sync. and you would not see a picture at all. When you find the pot turn it ( with a small screw driver) slowly until the rolling stops, if it does not stop then you have a faulty component in the vert. sync. circuitry.

Rolling screen!

The sync is automatic and controled by the uPC. It is strongly not recomended to mess with the factory service set-up. There are no so-called user adjustable controls for the horizontal and vertical frequency on this model.

The fault is usualy failed components in the sync seperator and sync amp sections.

An experienced TV tech can troubleshoot this and replace the necessary parts for you.

Horizontal lines across the top 2 - 3" of the screen

Sounds like you have some capacitors that are needing to be changed in the vertical circuit. The cost I cannot quote but, it probably won;t be worth the cost as replacement TV's are much cheaper now. Zeniths and other brands for the longest time have used not controls inside the TV, they are technician adjustments through a service menu only.

Picture has a horizontal row

this symptom is caused by a trouble in the integrated circuit of in the vertical oscillator circuit. try to look if your tv has a vertical hold control at the back or inside, if it does not have, u have a problem in the vertical oscillator circuit. by the way, its not the horizontal that u should concentrate into, its the vertical. coz this is a vertical sync problem.
