You need to disconnect the battery, remove the left front wheel and remove enough of the retainers for the left front wheel well [plastic] shroud, to move the shroud out of the way. The tcm should be located behind the bumper on the outside of the wheel well behind the plastic cover next to the horn!

The code P1698 is: No CCD messages from TCM. That means the communication between the Transmission Control Module and the Power Control Module is lost. Sometimes this happens when a PCM, or TCM is replaced without being flashed, a bad connection at the PCM, TCM, or a bad TCM. Hope this helps.

check fuses. Recheck that all the color codes are connected correctly, it's really easy to make a mistake here. Check the fuses electrically. If mice have eaten wiring in one place, you can bet they have done the same somewhere else so check everywhere including underneath the vehicle and under the hood. Make sure that any wiring which is hidden behind fittings and under carpets is checked.. get a copy of the wiring diagram and use it to recheck wire connections and trace which wires go where and do what including the power supply to the TCM. Reset the TCM, by disconnecting power for at least an hour.

the ground strap is bolted to the transmission housing next to the starter bolt.the transmission not shifting may be caused by the computer and may need to be reprogrammed for the new transmission.

P1787 = 2-1 Downshift error. Possible causes; a bad solenoid pack, possible tcm, solenoid pack wires or connection, internal issue. Take is to the dealer, they can diagnosis the problem and reflash the tcm if needed.
