Yes, a metal tank can replace the plastic one provided it is designed for the same year, make and model vehicle. You shouldn't have any problems with a replacement tank.

SOURCE: toilet tank fill valve sprays water towards lid

Hi bpmorr1,

It may be that the fill tube has come disconnected . It runs from the top of the fill valve to the overflow. The overflow is the tube that runs up the middle of the tank. The fill tube runs from the top of the fill valve to the top of the overflow tube. Kohler has a little clip that can sometimes come undone and cause spraying.

If that doesn't do it, turn the water off to the toilet and take off the tank lid. Partially open valve ( Slowly). Locate where spray is coming from. If it is in the area on top of the fill valve then yes, buy anew one. ( Fluidmaster )

Please rate this response and good luck, Phil

SOURCE: Vitra elongated Toilet

Sounds like you need to replace the fill valve assembly. It is not expensive or difficult, just a little messy

When the toilet back is removed does the seal need to be replaced?

Yes the rubber gasket between the bowl and the tank should be replaced, because it takes the imprint of the flush valve and ther's no way to make sure it goes back in exactly the same place, so it could leak, They are not expensive and should be replaced, along with the tank to bowl gaskets.

Is it possible to replace just the cistern instead of the entire toilet set? I have had water leaking problem in my toilet. The water is running from cistern to the bowl whenever the cistern is fille

It is likely that the leakage is being caused by a worn-out flapper or seal (the part the flapper seats on). You can buy after-market kits that have replacement parts. What is the make and model of your toilet?

Replaced the flapper, but now have water seeping from the tank into the bowl

You may have to put a weight in the flapper to keep it closed. First try putting pressure in the flapper and let it sit there for a few mnts and check if water still leaking into the bowl, if it does then there could be a crack in the porcelain leaking water or the whole flush valve will need to be replaced. After putting pressure in the flapper and it stops leaking then you just need to put a weight inside the flapper to keep it closed.

Hi, Just moved into an apartment with two vitra retro toilets. As soon as you start to use them you can hear water running as you add waste to the toilet bowl. Is this normal? The developer tells me it...

check the type of fill valve that you have in the tank and check with a plumbing shop or better yet check your local lumber company as
they usually carry toilet replacement parts and you can read the instructions on how to adjust the one you have

I am trying to find a replacement cistern lid for a Vitra, can you help?

Hello. Call your local plumbing shops. Some of them store all of the used parts for this very purpose. If they don't have a lid, they may have a source nearby. Joe

Replacement part for VitrA cistern

I trust you mean the "Flapper Valve". They are available and most hardware stores.
Get a Universal type as they fit most units. Take the old one with you. If you turn the water off at the wall it will stop it from running while you're away
