So you haven’t given us much information about what type of machine you are taking about, or what the material you are feeding is. But if this is a printer or lithograph, it’s usually because either the medium is outside the machine specs (too thin, too thick, ink paper in a laser or vice versa) or the machine roller is covered in something sticky, such as the remains of a previous failed print job.
As to removing it, without any clue what the machine is, all I can say is unplug it, don’t use sharp implements, and if in doubt seek professional help.

Block yBob - did you ever get an answer to your problem. I'm getting ready to install an ink cartridge into the same machine.

did you load your papers the right way? Look on your paper tray. There should be a few snaps right on the sides of your paper tray. Make sure you use those snaps to keep your papers confined in your paper tray

You must google to find the manufacture to find if anything is still available; but I have 2 ideas : 1. form a hard wire loop (from coat hanger or #12 guage steel wire) and attach this wire loopto the back of calculator case with screws (you'll need to make an eye loop at one end for the screw to go through). 2. make a small wood block that sits on the desk or table and make a wire loop that is held by the wood block and of course the paper roll is held by the wire loop.
