No problem. Just bought a new Black & Decker Corded Hand Vac and want to register @ BlackandDecker.com/New Owner

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

Unfortunately those units are prone to breakage they are also usually a sealed unit (not able to take apart). The best thing to do would be take it back where you bought it and try to get your money back. They just aren't worth fixing. Visit www.stevessewandvac.com they have a selection of hand vacs if you don't see what your looking for contact them by email they can help.

My HV8000 is a 900 watt - not sure if it's what you have or not, but it you go to blackanddecker.com and click on customer service (then parts or replacement parts & manuals), it will pop up a window where you can type your model number (or other info.) and get the manual as well as replacement parts - item number and cost.

First test the wall socket with a lamp to make sure it's working.
Next find a friend who has a VOLTMETER and TEST the two silver pins at the base of the charger for voltage... not to worry ~ it's low voltage at those pins. (14 volts DC).
