Most likely you have a frozen drain in the freezer section so that whne your refrig defrosts the water runs out into the freezer compartment instead of the drain pan underneath. the fix is to flush the drain with warm water to clear the obstruction. the drain can be reached either by removing the cover in the freezer area or by back flushing the line from beneath the refrig.

SUMMIT BOTTOM-MOUNT REFRIGERATOR FREEZER FFBF281W: Water pooling and freezing on freezer floor. ?????

The drain is blocked. The evaporator is defrosted every 24 hours. The water should go to a pan where is then evaporates. Look at the rear for a pipe.

Ice buildup in bottom of freezer--puddle of water on floor

this sounds like your freezer is operating properly, except that the drainage of the water when going through the defrosting mode is not draining properly, pooling on the bottom of the freezer and then freezing. Check the drainage hose for the defrost in the lower pan. I would remove everything, place in ice chest, let the unit completely thaw out and then inspect. I hope this is beneficial.

Water Pooling & Freezing

Assuming your fridge has a defrost cycle ( I.e. is a frost free model), you are probably suffering a blocked drain hole or pipe, leading to the top of the condenser or a tray nearby, where the frost water can evaporate.
The pipe can block with food or a mould plug, leading to water retention that freezes and further blocks the drain. the water is produced when a heater switches on in defrost mode and thaws the internal or external ice build up and, with nowhere for it to go it will pool on the bottom and may, when in defrost mode, run out onto the floor.
With frost free fridges/freezers, there is a drain outlet, usually hidden behind a removable panel inside the fridge/freezer compartment or, a drain hole near the bottom. If there is a drain pipe as well, access is usually from the rear base of the machine. The pipe is usually removable and can be cleaned out but prepare for some water to escape. An ice block in the drainage hole can be thawed using a hair dryer BUT GENTLY, so as not to warp the plastic inners of the fridge.

Frigidaire FFHS2311LWD has water pooling up and freezing bottom drawer and lower vent. Drain tube doesn't seem to be clogged. Water leaks onto floor some days.

the drain tube is most likely clogged. if the lower vent is freezing up there is no way to confirm because it is covered with ice. the reason water leaks onto the floor is, the refrigerator goes into defrost, frost melts and runs down the ice to the door. use a hair dryer to remove all ice, then use hot water to check drain. drain tube may be up to a foot long and may have a trap. you may have to go in through the back to gain access to the drain

Model52552100 side by side kenmore. What cause ice build up on bottom of freezer?

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

Model # FFU14F9GW.. water pooling under unit

Greetings,
If the water is pooling under the bottom drawer. I'd say your drain is clogged..the drain will freeze over from something getting into the drain i.e. food particle....The best thing to do. Is use a hair drier to defrost the drain pan and then make sure your drain runs free by pouring water into it....

if this is pooling under the refrigerator and out on the floor..There is a drain pan problem..and /or the drain hose going to pan is out of the pan , or has a hole in it...correct as needed
If this has been helpful in fixing your problem..please leave a testimonial.....thank you

My samsung rs2630sh, has water pooling at the bottom of the freezer. Water will also leak out of the until onto the floor. the ice buit up so much had to break it up just to get the bottom tray out. Any...

I have the same problem. Water from the defrost coil is not running out the outlet, but freezing in the defrost "catch" pan and outlet tube. Once water freezes, then water from subsequent defrost cycles, runs into the freezer floor and eventually out to the front or side. I don't have a permanent solution, but you can take the inside panel off with the four screws and see the problem. Chip out the ice dam and clear pathway with very hot water. I have read that lowering the freezer temp may prevent. Open to new ideas or permanent solutions. Good luck!

WATER LEAK IN FREEZER POOLING AT BOTTOM & FREEZING THEN MELTING

The problem was indeed a clogged frost water drain. I had to pull the frig out from the wall (found an incredible amount of dust accummulation in the alcove), then remove the vertical metal and horizontal cardboard covers to expose the drain catchpan. The 1/2" rubber drain hose end was only about 1/8" above the pan pointing directly into it perpendicularly. This was not enough clearance. There was a plug (formed by dust and water) in the end of the hose that came out easily when I 'roto-rooted' it with a screwdriver. The water flowed easily after that, but I went ahead and trimmed about 3/8" off the end of the hose and pushed it back into its slot. Then I cleaned as much as I could. The prevention is to keep the area behind the frig cleaned!
