That is a fuser overheat message.
You can try this. Enter diagnostics. To do that turn the machine off, then press and hold down the ( 0 ) zero button while you turn the power on.
Once the machine comes on in diagnostics. Enter code 40 1and press start to see if it clear the fault.
That is enter 40 press start then 1 press start.
If that does not resolve the code you need to replace the fuser.

The u4 code keeps appearing. If we replace the fuser (400.00) how long should it last. We are a non profit group and the machine was donated. Is it worth the $400 repair??
We have a nonprofit org, that also have donated xerox 214 and just yesterday it gives u4 error. It works fine a day before.
