My garmin nuvi 350 gps will not recognize the sd card with music files

Try using a compatible SD card to have Garmin Express load all 49 states to the SD card. It is possible that you do not have enough free memory in your NUVI 350 for all 49 states.

What are you trying to put on the SD card? A map? If so, you need to create a subdirectory on the SD card called "Garmin" and the map file and unlock file should be named "gmapsupp.img" and "gmapsupp.unl".

If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.

Try seeing if your computer can recognize the card in a card reader. Your SD card might be corrupt.

The device is not recognizing the file name. The Garmin GPS will only recognize MP3 files. Ipod (MP4) and other media files will not play. Converting the files to the MP3 format will correct the problem.

It should work the way other Garmin units work. Plug the unit into the computer via the USB cable. The computer should recognize the unit as a mass storage device. Click on the Garmin (it should be shown under your storage devices) and you should see a folder marked MP3. Drag and drop the music files you want into this folder, then disconnect the unit (safely, of course). That should do it.

When connected via USB, the unit should connect with activesync as "Mobile Device". Browse this device with explorer and you should see your (formatted) SD card as \Mobile Device\SDMMC\ or \Mobile Device\sdcard\
Simply drag and drop mp3 files to this folder. If you have a card reader in your computer you can move files to the sd card without having to have
the unit connected.

The Nuvi 350 does have an SD cart slot in the side, which will allow you to purchase maps of other countries on an SD card, and use them in your unit. Garmin has a list of available maps for purchase on their web site.

I just read on the Garmin website that only regular MP3 files will work -- not books or music purchased through iTunes.

You need to buy a preloaded SD card, purchase maps from Garmin and download them to a blank SD card.
