This helped us .. Had 6 red blinks and volume control thru tv aka stereo didnt work .. we would reset tv and poof turns off and red blink 6 times.. we inspected with back off tv and found two wires not plugged onts sockets well or clicked into place..now we have now light or problems..haha hope it helps others... DO NOT try this unless you are comfortable we electronics and high voltage...

My Sony Bravia was shutting off after about a minute, followed by six blinks. I tried unplugging everything and resetting to factory defaults, and that did nothing. Finally I tried turning off two external wireless speakers that were sitting near the TV, and that did it! Turns out 6 blinks means there's a speaker problem, and the wireless speakers must have been interfering with the internal speaker. Weird. Anyway, problem solved!

I had the same problem. I have a Sony Bravia that was shutting off with six blinking lights (abnormal speaker voltage). I replaced the HDMI cable from the Comcast cable box with a five cable (three video, two audio) cable (sorry, I forgot what that cable is called). Anyway, the Sony Bravia has been on for couple of hours and has not turned off. I think the HDMI ports have a high voltage limit for input signals and it shuts down the TV if the input voltage is too high. Hope this helps.
Any other problems to report after the cable change? I am having a similar issue. I have 6 blinks after the tv turns off. If I wait long enough it will come back on, but will turn off again after some time.
Richard, does this happen when you have a HDMI cable installed? If so, update the firmware drivers for the TV set. Goto the Sony support/repair web page and look for 'drivers & software'. Find your model number and download the latest drivers to your computer. Then put the drivers onto a thumb/flash drive and put the flash drive in the service port on the back of the TV. Go thru your TV menu and find the update selection. The TV will know to look for the new drivers from the service port. Hope this helps.
