The battery door on my Vivitar broke off. Can this be repaired or do I junk the camera?
I have the exact same problem with my VivCam 3735. Here's how I solved it. Tape it ! Yeah but what do you use when you need to retape again and again ? Velcro !
For $3.59 at Home Depot you can buy 2 sets of 4" X 2" Velcro pads that have glued tape backs. I placed three small 1/2" by about 1" pieces of the eye hook half of the Velcro on the front of the camer body, on the battery door just inside the " > " open indicator mark, and the third on the back of the camera body just covering the name"Vivitar" I then cut two long strips of the fuzz hookhalf of the Velcro and placed them back to back so the glued sides are together. This glue is very strong so do this carefully ! Now use the long piece to hold the door shut and in the closed position wraping it around while pressing the door closed firmly.
Wah La ! now you can open and reclose the battery door over and over again.
Try with m-seal which is like cement. You can make a small mould of the part which is brocken and fix it carefully.I have done it many times. This will solve your problem.
