Canon Powershot A460 gets overexposed pictures with almost white image and sometimes white streaks especially daytime and outdoor though video take is okey.

It could be over exposure or maybe it is set to indoor or night settings.. Try setting it to automatic or to "outdoor" when you go outside and then take a picture.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

Please try and reset the mode of the image to see if the LCD does not go blank when shown to higher light. Also if there is no issue with the indoor pictures then it is possible that the auto light detection is giving a higher value to reset the image balancing. Shift from Auto to manual mode and try.

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras, but especially so for the S2 IS. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. either try puttin iso in auto mode or put it below 1000 if u r in day lite and adjust ur exolrsure setting which will even help u not getting over exposed

Are you sure that you are in full "auto" mode when you are taking your pictures? Make sure that the mode selector is set to the first red camera (without the M) right next to the little blue arrow.

Your camera is not capable of taking 15 second exposures. Instead try putting it in manual mode, turn off the flash, take it in a darkened room, take the picture, and open the battery door while the red and yellow lights are blinking. Give it several tries, but note that the chances may be very slim for success as the shutter symptoms suggest that it is stuck open.

For your camera (the A460) it's not possible to set the shutter to 15 seconds. Instead, set it to manual mode, turn off the flash, go to a darkened room, take the picture and open the door while the red and yellow light are flashing. Repeat until the shutter becomes unstuck. However, I must say that the chances are probably not very good to fix this with this method. And unfortunately professional repair will be too costly. If repeated tries do not work, it might be time to consider a new camera.

I got it repaired at canon service center in India for Rs 1900.
Next camera I will insure !

Which mode are you shooting in?
You may have adjusted the exposure compensation so everything is washed out.

Whatever the cause, your images are overexposed. Try shooting in auto and the camera should take over the settings, but if you are in other modes, check your shutter speed, aperture, & ISO also. These are all things that can cause too much light and wash the picture out/OVEREXPOSE.
