Jvc gz-mg20 camcorder recover files

Iwas trying to download video i took yesterday and an error message came up and said i need to recover files so i said yes then it said files recovered and now they are gone

We took a once in a life trip for 10 days with our children and documented the entire trip on the JVC Everio video camera. The second to last day we had an error message for absolutely no reason, that asked us if we wanted to recover the footage and I clicked on the only option which was 'yes'. Within a few seconds all of my footage was completely gone. JVC wasn't helpful about finding my footage. For $400 -$1200 several companies were willing to "look between the layers on the hard drive" for my footage but offered no guarantees. I'm soooo upset about the loss of this once in a lifetime footage. I'm planning to get rid of the video camera. It's just not worth losing such sentimental footage again.

i had the same problem, i was trying to unload all the video and it wouldn't download, so i turned the camera off and on again and all the videos were gone. my heart sank. all my kids video. i still need to recover the info, but one of you said that jvc is no help and the geek squad charges about $800 which is ridiculus. don't know were to go. the only thing i did do was buy a dvd video camera. i dont think an error like that could happen with this one.

I actually had the same problem happen. My camera said it had no video files on it. I plugged it back into my computer, turned it on and sure enough my videos were still on my camera. I just went into the files and them copied them to my computer. Good luck.

Hi
There is a program you can download for free off internet called "Undelete Plus" @ http://www.undelete-plus.com/- it may be worth a try.
There's a good chance it will work if PC can see the Camera hard drive.
Program can recover files from Hard drives and SD cards etc. providing they haven't been reformatted.

Hope this helps

Don't give up on those files, the software I use has found files on the camera that I thought were deleted and it did discover them. And that was unintentional...

Adobe Premiere 4 is the program I use to edit my video and was the one that found the files...

Hope that helps!

My JVC Everio GZ-MG130U Camcorder says "HDD Error"

You need a cable and some video capturing software. If you have a DV port you need a firewire cable. Pinnacle Studio makes a good program that is reasonably priced, easy to use, and makes professional videos.

Video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.

DOWNLOAD VIDEO TO PC

The video is .mod which is not the most common of files.

Here is the JVC site for this model, you may find some of what you need there.
http://www.support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027543&pathId=119&page=1&archive=true

Also, I use a program called Adobe Premiere which can convert the video files without any trouble at all.

You may want to install the software that came with the camera, there is a video editor and can help you with the files.

Good Luck!
