I have the identical problem. After talking with the Canon Service Center here in Arizona, they stated that the problem is with the Printhead, not the ink cartridges. The choices are to buy a new Printhead, which are very hard to find now, or buy a new printer. I found one last Printhead in Tucson, which I can purchase of $50.00, and install it myself. Otherwise, the Service Center can do it for the price of the part, plus $65.00 labor.
Seems like the logical solution is to buy a new printer. The PIXMA MX330 is $99.00 or the PIXMA MX860 is $199.00, which are similar replacements.
I am leaning toward purchasing a new printer. We've had the MP730 for about 5 years.

The cartridges are BCI3eBK, C, M, and Y. It was working with the same cartridges until today.
Please provide the cartridge numbers of the cartridges currently inserted in the printer.
