You need to remove the hard drive from your laptop and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. You need access to a computer that has Internet access then download and instal the Recuva program.
Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes and viruses!
Put the memory card into an USB card reader and plug it into the USB port in your computer, then run the Recuva program.
Simple to use interface - just click 'Scan' and choose the files you want to recover
Easy to use filter for results based on file name/type
Simple Windows like interface with List and Tree view
Can be run from a USB thumb drive
Restores all types of files, office documents, images, video, music, email, anything.
Restores files from removable media (SmartMedia, Secure Digital, MemoryStick, Digital cameras, Floppy disks, Jazz Disks, Sony Memory Sticks, Compact Flash cards, Smart Media Cards, Secure Digital Cards, etc.)
Restores files from external ZIP drives, Firewire and USB Hard drives
Firstly please check if the source for recording is the inbuilt space of hdd or the memory card.
If it's hdd which is selected as source for the recording , then may be you have deleted files from the memory card and not hdd and if it's the memory card that has been selected , then may be you have deleted files from your hdd and not from the card, which makes the camera show up this message.
It's always better to restart the camera after you have deleted a huge amount of files , as it would auto refresh and calculate the free space appopriately.
If you have any specfic queries , further , feel free to ask.
Hope this helps ..:) Your feedback would be appreciated.
HOPE THIS PROBLEM IS autorun.inf virus PROBLEM There is a much simple way to remove the Autorun.inf file. Genreally when you refresh the windows explorer view a bounded virus process recreates this file. This file is attached to many events of windows explorer including OPEN, REFRESH, etc. Simple stept to remove the virus activation: You must close opened explorer windows.
1. open up a command prompt (i.e. cmd.exe) >> to load it go to Run, type cmd, enter. 2. Now to remove virus's attributes (in order to delete it type following line by line and execute them pressing enter. e.g. F:\ F:\attrib -s -r -h *.* If there are any malicious EXE files those are now visible so if unnecessary delete them too. F:\del autorun.inf
3. After finishing above, quickly remove the pen as soon as posible (just after executing del command). 4. Now your pen is without virus activation config. file. Now you can safely delete unnecessary EXE files on it. IF YOUR PROBLEM NOT SOLVE PLEASE KNOW ME

Your PC has entered the netherworld (the mysterious regions below Windows).
Start to "Windows with Command Prompt" and execute the MSDOS command SFC (System File Check) - with your Windows Install CD handy (SFC will probably ask for it).
Once you get a command prompt (if you can), execute memory, and disk checks too (Why not?)
If you cannot get Windows with command Prompt to come up, execute ROM BIOS system checks - a bad memory location or card will cause a failure to boot, as will a bad Hard Drive HDA.
I had to replace a laptop's HDD last week after facing this exact same error.
Luckily it was a Dell Latitude E6400, and replacing the HDD is 2 screws and yank it out of the PCMCIA bus.
The memory on an HDD or external HDD is not erased when you delete files from it it deletes entries from the FAT system only whereas the actual file remains on the HDD. On the other hand anything saved on the RAM is gone once deleted. Likewise your camera will retain the data until its delete because it does not works on the FAT system.
Take all the memory contents out to your computer as backup, format your memory to fat32 and put all the memory contents again to the memory from your computer. If not working try downloading the card system files from the card manufacturer site, these files are needed to run the card just like the operative system in your PC, if these files get corrupt or deleted the card wont work.
Note- this software is works only with windows operating system so, connect your Memory Card, Phone, HDD or any other Storage Device to computer to recover data.
