I have a Sangean PR-D5 radio and just changed the batteries. Now all I get is FM tuning from 76-90MHZ where nothing is at for stations.

I fixed the the AM 9KHZ issue by setting clock to 12 hours and AM to 10 KHZ. Now how to fix FM problem? I have tried the pull battery and press power button with no luck, is there a master reset on the thing?

SOURCE: Problems with FM with

That is very typical of tuners designed for the US market; US FM radio stations use only the odd numbers. In most cases, tuners made for the US cannot be adjusted for use in other countries. However, a few have an "area" control that can be switched; usually it's part of the setup menu. Check out your owner's manual, if it's available.

SOURCE: Pioneer DEH-P690UB FM tuning problem

Pioneer have factory set your DEH-P690UB to 0.2Mhz steps to match the American FM frequency allocations. The fix is not casual as it requires complete disassembly of the head unit and repositioning of two surface mount resistors. This will void any warrantee and unless you're good at microscopic soldering could also ruin the set. I did however void my 2 year warrantee yesterday partly out of frustration and because I have the right SMT tools at work. Now my tuner CPU thinks it's in the Austrailian/Asian model DEH-P7950UB and is also compatible with UK stations. A previously hidden menu is also available where I can set either 0.1 or 0.05Mhz stepping for FM and 9 or 10KHz for AM BSM scanning. The rotary control now steps in 0.05's instead of odd 0.2's on FM Hope this helps.

Remove the battery compartment door and the batteries. There should be a small hole marked "reset" under the upper battery cradle. Press (gently...until it clicks) and hold for 5 seconds. Replace batteries and try again.

I have a new Sangean PR-D5 AM/FM Digital Portable Radio. I inserted 8 Duracell batteries Size C / R14. However, it won't turn on when I press power button.

Question edited for clarity, full 'make model what it is. Also it is a D5 not a DS.

This says if has 6 batteries, but you inserted 8? This link found via Google just happens to be where I bought my metal detector, GPS and Fish finder and the owner is a good friend. Their staff are hot on customer service if you phone and ask for help. My only thoughts are;
The batteries are incorrectly inserted.
It is set to the wrong input.
It is faulty.

Lots of help in the link

The manual says 6 batteries, but not the polarity. Did you try the mains adapter? And you are right, the manual is not good!

Sangean PR-D3L - How do I change between 12 and 24

Archer, I have read the entire PR-3DL manual and there appears no mention of a 12/24 hr setting, unlike certain other Sangean radios. The instructions for setting the alarm do not mention 'a.m.' or 'p.m.' .

Apparently, the clock is a 24:XX:XX display only.

Sangean ATS-803A - no audio

If its not a micro-p glitch, sounds like the radio was subject to a spike or surge wile plugged into the AC adapter. If the "power" light stays on all the time, thats what happened. Believe me, I was Sangean America's tech from 1990-1995.

The fix is to replace a transistor, or fet in the main pwr supply. (Close to where the adaptor plugs in.)
I wish I could give more details, but its been 14 long, long years.
