Dryer stops I push and hold the start button on my Kenmore Elite dryer. The dryer begins to work. As soon as I let go of the button, the dryer stops. It stops no matter how long I hold in the start button.

I have same problem. Have to hold button in to keep dryer running.

Everything else seems to be working as long as I stand there and hold button in. Maybe Sears needs to start attaching a chair to the side of this dryer with a portable TV attached so we all can sit and watch TV while we hold the button in

Your motor switch is gone you can either change the switch or motor you could try tapping the switch sometimes it will free the contact this switch is on the motor

if the dryer runs when you push the botton in and stops when you stop pushing on the button you have a bad even heat board or a bad motor relay.these parts are located inside the top console,if you send me the model number i can look up your dryer and tell you the part you need to change out

I'VE HAD MY DRYER 3 YEARS. POWER COMES ON BUT WHEN YOU PUSH START BUTTON THERE'S JUST A PAUSE AND THE ERROR CODE " F". PLEASE HELP!!

Select any one button (except POWER, START, and STOP) and follow
the steps below, using the same button (remember the button):
Press/hold
3 seconds
➔ Release for
3 seconds
➔ Press/hold
3 seconds
➔Release for
3 seconds
➔ Press/hold
3 seconds
All indicators on the console will
momentarily turn off, then turn back on with 88 displayed. After
5 seconds, the Automatic test begins.
Use the tech sheet info on page 2 as a starting point

Start button doesn't work properly

Hi, You have a motor going bad. The start winding is out on it.
The motor will need replaced.

Dryer won't stay on unless I hold the start button down. When I let go of the start button, it stops.

most likely the evenheat board is bad, but it could be the motor relay, get under the console and check the trouble shooting wiring diagram. there are several checks you can do to narrow it down.

Dryer starts when start button is pressed and held but will not stay running when button is released

there is a holding contact at the motor wiring, check the schematics and trace that holding contact. it should hold the motor running as soon as it starts.

My Dryer Starts, then stops as soon as I release the button.

Its possible the dryer heat selector is at fault. If the timer inside does not move to the end of the heat cycle you may have further problems. Depending on how old the dryer and how long it has taken to dry garments, you may want to check that the motor has not gone bad causing an electrical overload. Faulty timers will cause extended drying times eventually putting a strain on the motor's bearings and electrical windings. You may want to get a replacement or get a repair estimate to repalce the belt, motor, drum rollers and heating coil components.
