Mike,
Leica does not sell replacement keypads, if the unit is less than 2 years old they will cover it under warranty. Contact the dealer you bought it from and they can handle the warranty exchange. If it is over two years old, it is out of warranty, but they offer a "repair" option, which will replace your damaged A3 with a new D3 for about $215. If you bought it from a reputable dealer, you shouldn't have any problem.
Hope this helps,

Leica Disto A5 does not measure with the main button, but it does measure with the timer

It's possible that the main button may be malfunctioning or broken, which is preventing it from activating the laser. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Ensure that the laser is not obstructed or dirty. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the lens clean.
  2. Check the battery contacts and make sure they are clean and properly aligned. You can clean the contacts with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
  3. Try resetting the device by removing the batteries for a few minutes and then reinserting them.
  4. Check the user manual or manufacturer's website for any firmware updates that may address the issue.
If none of these steps work, it may be necessary to send the device in for repairs or contact Leica customer support for further assistance.

Always get error 279 on my Disto Classic

Put in new batteries and clean lens and calibrate if it has that function. If that doesn't work, Type the " Leica Disto A6 Laser Distance Meter user manual" and it will bring up sites to manual.

Disto A3 - problem acquiring readings over 3-4m

A short rectangular "dot" is normal, a 255 error indicates that you are not getting enough reflection back to the optics. This may be due to the surface you are aiming at. Try placing a piece of white paper over the surface, if it does not measure 30 or 40 meters to a sheet of white paper, indoors, and the optics are clean, I'd contact your dealer to initiate a warranty claim. 3 or 4 meters should not be a problem unless the surface is very rough, such as dirt or sand, or very dark color.
If you just bought the unit from a licensed distributor, you should have at least a two year warranty, possibly 3 years.
