I bought my Pioneer Elite Plasma TV (i think its a 50 inch) June or July 2007. Recently I noticed the colour starting to distort usually with yellow dropping out and leaving a general reddish / greenish hue after operating for a period of time, say an hour or two. I thought it was the cable box but the problem is evident for all the DVD inputs as well. I know that the screen can produce "yellow" because when I navigate the TV's menu, the highlight color is bright yellow. So I am guessing there is something wrong with the way the TV is processing inputs info. Lately it has also started doing more weird color things: turning completely B&W and then purple and green (the "zombie" effect!). Anyone wnat to take a crack at this one?
Would need model number to search properly. On some sets a capacitor "C2601" of Y-Drive assembly contacts the audio bracket and it is damaged, can cause a abnormal picture.
Testimonial: "Very quick response and they asked for the right sort of clarifying detail that would help get to the bottom of the problem. "
Could not find any bulletins or tips for this problem, but it would seem to be the main control board or the input board. Worst case would be the PDP display/panel assembly. Either way it would have to be checked out at a repair shop so it can scoped and tested to isolate what the problem actually is. Here is a website that will give you an idea of parts costs. Sorry I couldnt be more help but havent worked on a lot of pioneers. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com

Thanks. I really appreciate it. the actual model number on the back panel of the display is PRO-507PU. I couldnt find that model number on Pioneer's web site. maybe you have better resources?
Actually I fixed the problem by accident. I realized the problem was not with the The Plasma screen after i swapped the signal input with another functioning TV. Instead it was with the Sony amplifier signal processor thinggy - a dodgy cable connection which, when I jiggled it, returned my TV picture to true colour vision.
I have exactly the same problem with the same TV specs..pioneer elite 50 inch plasma.
Did u ever determine cause of problem & remedy. thx
