HP photosmart 8250 wont print from photo tray.

I got a new computer (Dell Vista 64 bit) and tried to print from the photo tray, it says "out of Paper" the bottom tray is empty but the small photo tray is full. It will print a full page photo sheet from the bottom tray. I have selected the "photo tray" on the printer but it says out of paper and will not print from there. I am using window photo gallery. Any ideas?

Printing from Elements 6 w/ HP 8250, image pushed to left.

I wish I did have a solution. Photoshop Elements 7 exhibits the same problem. They obviously broke something. I have to use an old version of Photoshop Elements 4 just to print properly. I am a tech support professional, uninstalled all HP software, re-installed latest drivers and problem persists. Sucks.

Daughter left HP Photosmart 8250 idle for a year. Have just put in new ink, but paper will not load. How to service?

unplug the printer from the power and from the computer..
open the back door of the printer and check if both the rollers (inside the printer & on the door) are rolling (upwards)..if not then press & Hold the Power button for 60 seconds when unplugged from the power..
If the rollers still dont move..then u need to service the printer..
if rollers moves..then connect the power cable to the printer and directly to a wall jack (not to a power strip)..
power on the printer and load paper in the main tray..(ensure photo button is not lit up)..
photo button should be lit up in case u want to print photo and the paper is placed in the small phto tray which is exactly above the main tray...
place the paper to the xtreme right in the tray and slide the paper guide from left to right..
then try printing ..
