My hard drive crashed and I lost all my music files. But, I have them on my Dell DJ. Can I download from the DJ to the new hard drive?
I'm pretty sure you cannot. you can only transfer from dj to dj not to a computer. i had the same thing happen and i don't see any way to do it.
If you connect the dj to your computer using Dell DJ Explorer you can select all tracks and paste them into a music folder on the PC, it is a slow way of doing it and you may have to organize it all, but it works for restoring music to your computer after a HD crash..
You may download the musicmatch to your pc and install it. It is like an mp3 player where you can connect and play your dell jukebox and maybe transfer or add songs to it....I was able to move my recordings on a dell hvdit to my pc and I think you can also move mp3 files from your dell jukebox to your pc or at least backup your dell mp3 player.
I would also like to transfer my music from my DJ (the original one) to the computer. The problem I'm having is even more complicated -- I can't get the software to run on XP. Some of the more recent music I've aded has been from realplayer or from winows media player, but there's a lot that was transferred from the dell software when it still worked. I can't access that music (except on the dj itself) and I'm worried about what I'll do if the dj crashes. Several of the CDs have disappeared into the black holes in the middle of my teenagers' rooms. I've tried downloading new drivers, but they're not supported by the system. (The latest version of the software is from 2004.) I can use realplayer to list the tracks but they don't play and can't be transferred. Another problem is that the dj software tends to freeze the windows media player which won't run at all if I've tried to get into the mmdb. But if I uninstall the software, I can't transfer any new music from the computer to the dj, so I have to keep the software on the system. Any suggestions?
As stated above and elsewhere, DJ Explorer should recognize and display the contents of your DJ. From there you copy and paste it to another folder on your computer (probably back to your My Music folder) Yes, its slow and poorly organized but possibly the only way to do it.

Have an older Dell DJ, 20g. I have a laptop with Vista, which won't read it. I need to backup the music since I lost most of it on my older computer.
Same here.
