SOURCE: toro self propelled mower will not move

This is a very simple solution, When you pull the lever it simply pushes a pulley into the belt to make it tight. Most of the time the belt has come off or maybe the cable broke. Turn the mower over and you will see the belt. My money is on the belt off.

SOURCE: toro 20016 self propel

If you take the wheels off and remove the belt from the small pulley on the the front axle underneath the pulley you should see a small transmission. You usually can split this unit in half . You will see two gears and sometimes one plastic and one metal. The plastic one is usually the culprit. Hope this will help you out. Donnyb60

SOURCE: toro self propelled 22 inch recycler lawn mower start pull cord is "stuck"

Casey,

My son just bought a new Toro self propelled 22" recycler and has had problems on two different occasions. The mower just bogs down to a stop and when he tried to pull the starter cord, it was very VERY difficult to pull. At first I thought the engine had seized up for some reason (no oil?), but we found the problem.

First, disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (to avoid the engine starting); tip the mower on its side and check very carefully the pulley and transmission belt. In his case, a piece of wood had gotten stuck between the belt and the pulley. Removing it fixed the problem (now he mows a little higher so as not to get so close to any debris). (We did have one further problem after that - the engine would not start - not even fire. After pulling and pulling, checking for gas, and checking that the air filter was cleean, we decided to check if the cylinder was flooded - we removed the spark plug, wiped and dried if off, and replaced it. It started right away.)

This belt 'n pulley arrangement isn't the best idea, if you ask me.

Good luck.

SOURCE: Toro Personal Pace self propel problem.

Your self-propel is probably belt driven. Belts can make an awfully lot of noise when unhappy. Possible it has rolled over and is running on the wrong side of the belt or is worn and just needs replaced. Hope this helps.,

SOURCE: my toro self propelled isn't self propelling

It may just be a matter of adjusting the cable. Sometimes they dont get them adjusted just right from the factory, heres what you do. Locate the plastic shroud in front of the push mower that covers the drive unit.Determine which screwdriver or torx bit is needed to remove shroud and remove it. After removal you will see a pulley with belt around it, as you pull the handle back to engage self propel you should see the pulley move into the belt to put tension on the belt. You can do this with it running to see if enough tension is being put on the belt,if not, locate the cable end where the small bracket holds the cable in place. Loosen the cable bracket and move cable until you have correct tension again, hope this helps.

Toro 20333 self propel. Doesn't engage. l

Is the tension spring gone? How is the cable? Usually there is a spring at the end of the cable in which when you pull back on the bar with your hands, this tightens the belt so that it engages with the engine allowing the wheels to turn.

Self-propelled feature does not work at all! Any suggestions?

You might have a broken belt to the self propelled or a broken spring or whatever engages the self propel. Take off the cover and see if anything is broken or missing. Have someone engage the self propel while you are watching and see what is going on.

SELF PROPELL NOT WORKING GOOD

Have you checked the belt that drives the wheel? This is more than likely the problem. It may be broken.

Cable traction needs adjusted

To adjust the self propel cable, loosen the cable
clamp, pull the cable downward to remove all the slack
then push the cable jacket up 1/8”
and secure with the cable clamp
good luck
