The most common troubles with feeddogs not working properly is either lint trapped in between the feed teeth...remove the needleplate and clean out the lint which may look like felt in extreme cases. or... the presser foot tension is too low, in which case, increase tension...there will be a knob of some sort at the top of the machine directly above the Presser Foot Shaft. It is a remote possibility that the feeddog height needs adjusting ...it will have been a major trauma of a severe jam or tugging etc to cause this. As it would almost certainly result in other timings being affected and particularly in the case of a Serger/Overlocker, the added risk of breaking loopers (expensive), I would recommend a service by suitably qualified technician to restore all to optimum condition.

How do I raise the feed dogs on the simplicity easy lock 880

The information I found on your machine indicates it is a serger. A serger's feed dogs should always be active unless your machine also has coverstitch capability. Perhaps you should look through your owner's manual. A sewing machine will sometimes have feed dogs that drop but, AFAIK, sergers don't do that.

Fabric not feeding on simplicity serge pro. Seems like the feed dogs are not high enough. I've changed the differential speed settings and the foot tension setting.

You mean after you change the setting and then it doesn't
pull any more.?
-If so the foot tension need to be re adjust. (More tight or loose)
-Here try this:
1. If thick fabric then need more tension.
2. If thin fabric then need less tension.
*After try the above if still not work then:
4. Lift the foot up and spin the machine by hands and observe the dog feed. It should swing pass above the surface about 1/32 (+/-)
-If it swing but stay below the surface then the
internal part that spin the dog feet is worn out.

Good luck

My feed dogs will not pull my material through.

Check to be sure you have not inadvertently dropped the feed dogs on your machine. Dropped feed dogs are used for 'darning' or 'free motion quilting.' Below is info from Troubleshooting Manual:

Fabric does not feed through the machine
The feed dogs are lowered. Use the feed dog position switch to raise the feed dogs. 81
The stitches are too close together. Lengthen the stitch length. 42
The wrong presser foot was used. Attach the correct presser foot. 179
The needle is bent or blunt. Replace the needle with a new one. 34
The thread is tangled. Use scissors, etc., to cut the tangled thread and remove it from the race, etc.

I need to know how to oil a simplicity serger-easy lock-with differential feed

I have a Simplicity serger SL880 that was my mothers. She past away about 8 years ago. I was trying to use it but appears the motor may be locked up that moves the feed dogs. Is there a place to oil it? If so where? Thank you.

Kenmore model 158 15510 will not catch the material to advance it while sewing. The catch plate does not go up high enough.

Feed dogs.

Check the manual for how to engage/raise the feed dogs.

Or, it could be the machine needs cleaning.

Open the bobbin area and the throat plate (plate under the presser foot) and clean with a soft brush or cotton swab.

Changed thread on serge pro SW 432. Now no chain or stitch.

Sergers can be tricky to thread.

Remove the thread.

Raise the antenna to it's highest position.

Open the tensions - setting zero.

Lift the presser foot.

Open the door on the serger and turn the handwheel until the upper looper is at it's highest point.

There should be a threading guide on the front of the machine or on the inside of the door.

Follow the threading sequence as this greatly affects the stitching.

The material will not feed, I have to pull it through--what is my problem

First check to see if the feed dogs have been lowered--there is usually a button or lever for that--once it has been disengaged the fabric should feed properly. The other possibility is lint, really--remove the plate that covers the feed dogs and check for packed lint between the "fingers" of the dogs--it will pack in there like felt and keep the feed dogs from rising as much as they ought to. Eventually the machine will refuse to run if enough lint gets in there...

I need help with the tention settings on my simplicity serger pro please

All the problem that everyone had with the Simplicity Serge Pro are able to be fixed with the manual. I downloaded the manual from the Simplicity Home page: www.simplicityhomecare.com. That simple. Thank you for your assistance because you made me realize that I had to go get the answer myself if I wanted to get anything done yesterday. Waiting for 24 hours was just too long for me. There is also an 800-822-6691 hotline as well. I have already finished my project. Have a great day!
