No, you need the correct transducer.

SOURCE: Lowrance LMS522c transducer

Probably not. Usually the transducer is made specifically for the head unit it is designed for. More often than not, transducers are not interchangeable, particularly across brands. Also, for best results, you really want to install the transducer that came with your new lowrance. That will give you the best results and sonar clarity.

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: lowrance depth finder missing adapter cable

I own a 1995 Four Winns and what you need is a Lowrance LSM-1 depth finder unit. It accepts the two pin lead from the transducer and send the depth reading to the dashboard display via the 6-pin connector. There is also a three wire harness (red/blk/wht) that connects to a power supply.

The reason I know all this is my depth finder fried a couple years ago so I removed the Lowrance LSM-1 from the boat in order to find a replacement. Unfortunately, this was an OEM part that is not available from Four Winns or any aftermarket source. Probably your best bet is to look in a boat salvage yard or purchase an aftermarket depth finder.

SOURCE: How does my Lowrance HDS-5

To connect a LRA 2400 to a Lowrance HDS-5 sounder/chartplotter, you can run an ethernet RJ45 cable from your Radar Processing box to the HDS-5 unit. You will need an adaptor cable for the RJ 45 cable to hook into the HDS-5 head unit. This is part no 000-0127-56.

As for the different transducer pinouts, I am not sure what transducer you have now so I cannot say if there is any kind of converter plug available, however, the HDS-5 units do seem to run best using the transducers that are made for them. Your best option may be to buy the transducer that is made for them, and this will directly connect to the display unit.

Hope that helps!

How to wire it for use, power it up

Hi Charles.

I was unable to come up with detailed installation instructions, but basic wiring is red to positive and black to negative to your power supply. Transducer cable(s) go into their respective socket(s).

In case you need it, owners manual is available at the link below.

Hope this helps.

How do i install elite 5 dsi on 14' tiller boat

Install the battery cables to the battery for the gas motor.

Here is a transducer installation guide for Lowrance, this is pretty standard for all transducers. Pay attention to how the boat sits in the water when trolling for level setting to match in water.

The plug in to the M68 is crumbling away. now will not power up.

Mine is having the same issue. I wrapped it with electrical tap around the outside to hold the pins inplace temporarily. Anyone know if you can buy just the plug or do you have to buy a whole new transducer?

My Lowrance X-51 is not reading the depth sitting still of running . Do I need a new transducer ?

Yes quite possibly... But a few things to try/check first before you go out and get a new transducer...

1. Ensure the transducer is fully submersed below the waterline when floating and when on the plane... try lowering it more if you can.
2. Check the surface of the transducer itself (the underside) pointing down... If there are any minor scratches or scuffs, this can effect its function or performance. Minor scratches or marks can be sanded out with fine wet/dry sandpaper (at least 400 or 800 grit).
3. Isolate any electrical wires running near or next to the transducer cable. Also check connection of cable at head unit, and that the pins etc are clean, free of corrosion and making good contact.
4. Take your head unit to your Lowrance dealer and they may have a transducer there to use to diagnose whether it is indeed the trasnducer or a problem with the head unit.

Good luck!

Hi- I have a 1996 Four winns boat with the same problem. I believe we are missing an adapter cable which goes from the depth cable to the instrument panel. I have not been able to locate this cable yet. If I find it I will let you know and can you do the same for me if you locate one?

Lowrance x135 not functioning properly

Had the same issue with another brand. Turned out the transducer cable was picking up noise from other cables (power, trolling mtr. etc). Try moving the transducer cable away from any other cables. I put the cable in a 1/4 " plastic housing up to the point where it was above deck and it stopped all the strange stuff. Not sure about the temp issue??
