The battery is located in the back of the door. Assuming that you can open the safe. There are videos on YouTube for opening the safe in the event of battery failure.

Try raising he temperature of the safe then try and open after an hour.

I used my wife's hairdryer and heated the outside for a few minutes so that the heat could get to the batteries. Left it for a few minutes and tried to open it once again and Bingo.. it opened..

have new batteries and told the wife not to forget next time..

Why don't you just use the overide key?

Open the safe door and press the s key press the I key twice then press the red button on the inside of door near the hinges. you will hear 2 long beeps. press the s key and then the red button and you will hear a beep enter your combination up to 12 numbers then press the E key your combination is now set. Best of luck
