Monitor Compatibility with Vista

I have a Dell 1907FPt monitor. I am considering converting from Windows XP to Windows Vista so I ran the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to determine the compatibility of my software and hardware with Vista. The Upgrade Advisor said that the monitor (NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64) would not work in Windows Vista. This seems strange as the monitor is only 10 months old.

Hi,

Based on your post/description. I think it is not your monitor that is in question but rather your video card which is the "NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64". Upgrading the video card to new series of NVidia should fix your compatibility issue with Vista.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things work out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I have dell 1907fpt, the lcd screen powers up for just 2 or 3 seconds.

The backlight might be bad. As far as I know, there isn't a way to replace that, so you'll have to get a new monitor.

make sure video drivers are updated and installed. Then on main window screen, right click and go to properties, then click on settings. Make sure monitors are set and enabled

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my monitor.. I installed the nVidia graphics package from the Package Manager and then upped the resolution .
You'll have to make sure you know if your graphics card is nvidia or ati, though..

Hope this helps
