If it restarts immediately, check the vent in the gas cap for restriction. also, the solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor may be sticking or getting weak. if you have to let it sit for awhile before it retarts, the ignition module may be breaking down when it heats up. i'd bet on the gas cap or solenoid though

Check your exaust hose. Mine came loose inside the engine compartment and it caused the same problem. Would run great for a while, then just die or start sputtering like it was missing or the plugs were bad. After I let it sit for a while it would start up fine, run great for about 15 mins, then have the same problem.

Instructions for fixing the choke on a Craftsman LT-1000 lawn tra

I have been hearing alot of this problem. Well it is gravity flow. I just bought a 2002 lt1000 17 hp without a carb the guy was having the same problem so he sent the carb away to get checked out and low and behold it got lost. He waited the summer to see if it would show up but it did not. He got mad and bought a new bigger one. Any ways i am waiting on a new one. Now in my reading these problems i discovered that the fuel line coming out of the tank to the carb is lower. Might be somthing to look at. JIM

It Starts and runs fine for about 15 minutes then

I think that your right. Sounds like your ignition coil witch is most likely located under the the flywheel cover. I know that on some briggs and stratton engines they are actually under the flywheel, just trace the sparkplug wires to know for sure. When the ignition coil beginns to fail they start slowly (spitting and sputtering) and then they get to the point to where they stop firing after getting heated up and adventually quit all together.

Craftsman garden tractor stalls after running for about 20 minute

do you have the right fuel filter? some are for pressure and some are for gravity feed, the pressure type (fuel pump) wont flow the gas correctly. another possibility would be the coil.
