Not sure about Dyson, but I would suggest there is a belt that drives the roller in the cleaning head. Its probably slipping or broken. You may have to take the head apart to see it.

Reading this blog. Dyson is of little to no help. How disappointing when you spend a small fortune on one of their products. I'm just now experiencing hard to push with. DC25 Animal. Can't adjust height....

sorry to say your dyson is not the fault, its your carpet, a lot of new carpets have a tight weave pattern, this makes it impossible to push any vacuum. all new carpets have a directional pile always vacuum with the pile. The best option is to buy a auto drive kirby it does all he hard work for you. you can pick a refurbished one up for around 300

How do I make the machine easier to push forward ?

Dyson will tell you to remove the gaskets from the cleaning head. I have 2 Dysons, both of which became impossible to push after new carpet was installed. I was skeptical, but it worked.

Why does dyson dc39 ball drag on floor which scratches hardwood and makes it difficult to push on carpet. Just started doing this after four years.

It sounds like the axle connections have gotten dirty or bound with animal hair or other material. Cleaning the axles can resolve this issue. Contact Dyson for assistance here:

Bought a brand new dyson animal and it is impossible to push thru our new carpeting. I set to the highest pile but still can't push it. Seems fine on lesser pile carpeting.

Just purchased a new Dyson animal vacuum and cannot push it thru the carpeting. I have it set to the highest pile carpeting but it is impossible to push. Seems to work fine on less thick carpeting.
