Just do this
1. Start your laptop and press F10 continuously to go to BIOS setup.
2. Go to "System Configuration" -> "Device Configurations"
3. Set "SATA Native Mode" to Disabled.
4. Start the installation while keeping a finger on "F7" key.
5. After some time there will be continuous beeps.
6. Remove your finger for sometime and then continuously press "F7" key till the beeps are repeated. This is done to disable your BIOS ACPI.
7. And then do you normal Xp installation.
8. This should do.

I have installed XP in Compaq Presario Laptop. I have configured audio. But I get the error message "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver." Please give...

I would try a newer operating system like Windows 7 which is the current operating system supported by Microsoft and likely would install the audio driver automatically off of the Internet.

If you're set on XP running it, try to search for the driver on the HP.com website under 'v3000z driver'.

I want to format my laptop compaq presario c700 and isntall windows xp2... i need the sound driver

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -
www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html

I suggest you install XP SP3, this is the XP latest service pack.

Intalling window xp over vista

XP does not include SATA drivers in the distribution. You need to get the SATA drivers for your particular model from HP's website and watch for the prompt to hit F6 when prompted to install SATA or RAID drivers.

The trick is that the mechanism to add these drivers at this point assumes that you have a floppy drive which is rare these days. There are a number of work-arounds for this, here is one:

Windows xp not installes on hp notebook

It means your hard drive is not connected to the computer. Go into the BIOS and check to make sure it shows up. The best thing, set the BIOS to the default setting.

Windows instaling problem

When you disable for installation it normally does not work correctly when enabled again. Go to Hp's website and download the SATA software. You will need a floppy drive. The driver for it extracts to the floppy. If your laptop did not come equipped with a floppy you will have to use an external usb floppy. No off brand it has to be a name brand. Normally the generic floppies do not work. Once you have the software extracted to the floppy. Boot the computer to with xp cd. When the blue screen displaysa message accross the bottom with say "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver. The computer will read the floppy and select one of the choices preferably windows default.

Hope this helps you
