If you take a good look at the screen when it goes dark can you make out anything maybe some bright scenes on the channel you were watching or if you press the menu key, you can see a very dim display, you might need the back light assembly or something related to it.

It needs a video board replaced most likely. You can find by searching on google for your model. Might cost more than set is worth. Think about new model as they are really cheap in that small size.
I would recommend using the S-video connection for the DVD to the TLA-01511C TV's S-video. Then, press the input button and go down to the S-video option and you should be good to go - it worked for me. Hope this helps you!
