It could be a broken belt or it may have just come off the pulley, OR, the brake is stuck in the "on" position, OR, you just changed a flat rear tire and the axle key fell out unnoticed

I had a similar problem with my craftsman riding mower, and discovered it the seat safety switch was plugged in only part way. I plugged it in correctly, and everything worked fine. Hope this helps.

Sounds like something with either the clutch or maybe some sort of linkage to transmission.

Mtd Yard Bug Riding Mower 500 series It was working fine now won't move in forward gear.

Question edited for full make model (what it is).
Question moved from Cars and Trucks.

Sounds like one side of the gear selector cable is slack.

are you talking about driving forward? that doesnt sound quite right. there is a reverse safety switch and paddle that are meant to do that exact thing but in reverse. Mine has a key position back one from where you release after start. when you move key to that position, i can go in reverse with the deck still engaged.

Mower slips in and out of forward gear but rides perfect in reverse; What do I need to adjust?

Reverse is a different gear set than forward gears. Sounds like forward gear set has a broken tooth. Not an easy fix.

I have a Craftman 19 HP riding lawnmower - used Model 944607192 My question is how do I adjust cutting blade depth since I do not have a manuel

There should be a long lever to your right when seated, move that lever forwards and backwards for height adjustment. Good Luck...

My craftsman lawn tractor 42" cut (2007 model) cuts off when i try to engage the cutting blades

You have a safety switch somewhere that is open, like the seat, you have to be in the seat or it will kill the engine, sometimes the clutch has to be in, not moving, sometimes the gear selector in neutral, You have a bunch of safety switches that prevent the mower from spinning if you are not in your seat, not ready, etc. Check them out. Hope this helps.

Tractor will not go in forward gear, only reverse.

Try rocking the mower forward and backward while you try to shift it.

Will not go into gear

a hydro uses a foot pedal on the right side , you push forward to go forward or rock the pedal rearward to go in reverse - a regular transmission has a shifter usually between your legs for reverse 1st 2nd or 3rd gear - you also said the blades wont engage . are they electric ( with a switch ) or do you manually move a lever .
